On calling family, who live just south of the border, to say we would be flying into Vancouver to visit them, they immediately said we should book a night or two in Vancouver in order to have dinner at AnnaLena Restaurant and that they would join us.
Well that was excellent advice as this was an awesome place with an impressive menu as well as great wines.
Our table of five chose the tasting menu which was even better than we anticipated, after the descriptions we had be given. Each of the beautifully presented courses was well balanced with flavour and paired with wines chosen to enhance each dish. Discussing the menu afterwards, it was tricky to settle on what dish stood out, as each was so special, though I think my favourite was the mussel dish - mussels out of their shells in a decadent creamy sauce with thyme, preserved lemon & garlic, topped with a freshly baked bread, resembling a grilled mashed potato that one used to soak up the beautiful sauce. What an amazing menu - a true memory maker. Thanks to the chef & staff who made the meal so spectacular.
