“Beautifully appointed hotel on the Inner Harbour”
Reviewed 29 March 2012

Great location overlooking the Inner Harbour. I stayed for three nights on a recent business trip. Friendly staff, great restaurant or try the Pacific Lounge for a drink and a bite to eat! Stayed in a very comfortabe, well appointed "Victoria" room with a king size bed. Check out the fantastic Victoria Athletic Club! Just a few minutes walk from downtown shopping and dining. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Victoria.

We had purchased some online deal coupons for this hotel back in August..but weren't able to use them until the 22nd and 23rd of March. The hotel was fantastic. Our Verandah room was actually a 2 room suite with a sitting room, bathroom with a king sized bed that was so comfortable and between ourselves and the hallway, a bathroom with two separate sink areas bracketing the shower tub. We did have a cozy veranda and a great view of snow covered mountains in the distance. The desk staff was attentive and very friendly. One of them even provided a recommendation for what turned out to be a great resturant recommendation. We had valet service included in the coupon and everyone we met who provided that service was welcoming, warm and friendly. The attached athletic club pool and spa were great also...just the right temperature for both. If there is anything that could be better, it was the breakfast buffet. The service was good but the food was somewhat hit and miss depending on what you took from the buffet. The location is right on the harbor, next to the parliment building and a block aways from the Fairmont hotel. The downtown areas with shops, resturants, and pubs was an easy walk away.

Overall, definitely a hit for this vacation. We like it and highly recommend it for anyone who can get an online coupon deal for this hotel. This is an honest review and I have no affiliation with the hotel, the coupon provider, and/or Tripadvisor.

Room Tip: Go off-season and use online coupons.

We brought our kids for an overnight stay in Victoria and for the amount we paid for our room (abt $150) you really cannot beat the value for your dollar. The hotel is extremely well situated and rooms are clean and well appointed. The kids loved the pool and the gym was fantastic. I have stayed in many Victoria hotels and while this is not my favorite, I would definitely go back, particularly if you are taking children.

Room Tip: If you get a room with double beds, try and get two queens.

My friend and I stayed at the GP for 2 nights for a long over due spa weekend. We had booked the Pacific Suite but upon checking in we were upgraded to The Songhee suite...what a nice surprise! The room was large with a dining room table, 2 flat screen tvs, stereo, mini fridge, fire place, 3 balconies overlooking the harbor, soaker tub, 1 1/2 bathrooms and a king size bed. The staff was very nice and friendly and even turned our bed down at night...which was very comfy. We did not eat in the restaurants but did have room service for breakfast one morning. We also did not use the pool or hot tub. The only problems I had were the price of parking for the weekend and the route guests have to take to get to the spa. We practically had to walk past the parkade to get there as it is on the P1 level. It felt like we were entering through the staff access or something... Not very 'spa like' anyways. We didn't feel comfortable wandering down there in our housecoats and slippers and the only other entrance is from outside. All in all the GP is a nice hotel in a great spot and they treat you well. We will be back next year for another spa weekend.

We reserved 2 rooms. We were on the 8th floor. Room 328 is on the front side of the hotel had a weird incidence where one of the lights didn't work and when my daughter & her friend returned at around midnight or so, the balcony sliding door was fully open & the light that wouldn't work was working. They swear they didn't leave the sliding window wide open & the light didn't work & was not on when they left. Weird. Has anyone else had any weird incidences? On the same floor my spouse & I reserved a king room and it was so small and at the back side of the hotel. The tv reception was so horrible we asked to be moved and got a room with 2 queens on the same floor on the side of the hotel which was a much bigger room. It is best to ask for a room at the front of the hotel & preferably 2 Queens. Couple of our lights
didn't work in our room also. The tub drain didn't work. To get to the pool you have to go thru a freezing cold parking lot. The pool & exercise facility is an actual gym that the facility let's locals use too so there are people who aren't staying @ the hotel using it. The hotel let's you leave your luggage in the lobby in a locked room & you can pick it up when ready to board the Clipper. I would stay again @ this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel and reserve 2 queens (not king) as you can get a larger room. Also y...

Dear IslaAnne,

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at The Hotel Grand Pacific with our online community and with us.

I am so pleased that you indicated that you would stay with us again.

We did a lock read on your daughter's room. This tells us exactly who enters a room and when. We were quite were relieved that only your daughter and friend had accessed the room on the night in question. I was also pleased that we were able to find a room that better suited your needs. In the future please let us know of any room issues and we will fix the problem. Right Away!

If you stay with us again please ask the front desk for directions to the Victoria Athletic Club. All guests can access the club through hotel elevators and hallways and do not need to enter the parking lot. We are quite proud of our 10,000 square foot Athletic Club which features a fully equipped weight room, state of the art cardio equipment, a 60 metre lap pool as well as a variety of fitness classes including yoga.

I am delighted that you took advantage of our offer to store your luggage until you were ready to board the Clipper ferry. We are steps away from both the Clipper and the Coho Ferry Terminals and very close to both the float plane and helicopter services.

I hope to have the pleasure of having you back on future stays.

Kind Regards,
Emory Haines
