“A+ for Abigail's!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 December 2011

My husband and I recently celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in beautiful Victoria.
We stayed 3 nights in one of the honeymoon rooms at Abigail's...our stay with perfect in
every way! The staff was very friendly and attentive, the food was delicious, our room was
romantic, comfortable, quiet and immaculate and our massage at the spa was very relaxing.
The hotel's location is great, just a short walk to all that downtown Victoria has to offer.
Thank you Abigail's! We highly recommend your lovely hotel and are looking forward
to spending our next anniversary with you!

Room Tip: The honeymoon rooms are very spacious, with great bathrooms and fireplaces.

My parents had their 5oth wedding anniversary at Abigail's. We had a superb dinner, absolutely divine mushroom soup - even the non mushroom eaters in the family tried it and said it was good. They provided a scrumptious cake for dessert. The whole package included a night in one of their fancier rooms, the name has escaped me just now, which my parents said was wonderful. This on Dec 22, 2006 when there was a rare, once every ten years maybe, but wicked snowstorm that had trees falling and one hit the roof of their house in Sooke. So having a wonderful, relaxing stay was perfect.
We were so pleased with how well my parents were treated that, in 2008, when one of my daughters and her fiance decided to move their wedding ahead a whole year we decided to check out if Abigail's was available, at short notice, on a long weekend. They were, and they once again provided us with a wonderful evening. The best part each time was being given permission to use the library although it is open to all guests - some did come in, but were quiet and respectful each time. The staircase is perfect for the bride to descend; the mantle in the library a stunning backdrop.
The kitchen even managed to squeeze in two extra place settings for us - I believe the maximum is 24. Once again we had the ding room just for our group, service was wonderful, we were not too rowdy, dessert was served on the patio. The room we had booked ended up being the same one my parents had - big enough for the bridal party to get ready, with goodies provided.
Bride and groom stayed two nights and said it was heavenly. They were served breakfast in bed; enjoyed a real fire - just as well because the next night the power went out all over downtown Victoria!
If you are planning an intimate celebration I highly recommend Abigail's. I may even stay there when I return from China just to relax for a couple of days.

Room Tip: My family stayed in the main part of the B&B rather than the carriage house - it was more intima...

We stayed here for two nights in May at the start of a three-week tour of BC and AK. I actually changed our reservation from another hotel on the basis of TripAdvisor reviews. I couldn't be happier that I did.

We stayed in the Coach House and it was perfect. We had the room with the balcony and a dazzling view of the Olympic Mountains across the Strait of Juan de Fuca first thing in the morning. The bed was super comfortable and we were delighted to have an opportunity to use the wood-burning fireplace on the first night. The breakfasts are to die for -- and you get to watch the chef preparing them for you in the open kitchen!

The location is a real asset. It is on the outer edge of the downtown area, in a quiet residential neighborhood. Short walk to the harbor (or the bus station), but completely off the radar of the tourist hordes. Furthermore, its placement allows you convenient access to Beacon Hill Park, and to interesting Victoria neighborhoods like Rockland (don't miss Craigdarroch Castle) and Fairfield (ditto for charming Cook Street Village). Plus, you are only a block away from Christ Church Cathedral and a few blocks more from the must-visit restaurant Cafe Brio.

In sum, there is a reason that Abigail's is #1 on TripAdvisor: it really is the best!

We booked in last minute and they saved us an appetizer plate! The parking is easy and free! The internet is included! The room had a wood burning fireplace which even has a presto log. Bed is comfy and has great bedding. The location is quiet.
The breakfast is really incredible and will keep us coming back for sure. The food was fresh and local. The staff are professional & friendly. They think of everything in the rooms and throughout. Very nicely appointed.
A great experience for all around!!

My wife and I stayed here for a overnight trip to Victoria. You cannot imagine any better hotel experience! Staff were super friendly. They had a wonderful list of restaurants frequented by local folks. The breakfast was simply second to none. (I never imagined a scone could be that delicious.)

The room had a wonderful view and was very comfortable. And the fireplace added a cozy touch to the beautiful room. I will definitely stay at Abigail's whenever I visit Victoria again. This hotel deserves its number one ranking in every aspect.

My wife and I have stayed at a number of the top-rated B&Bs in Victoria, usually on or near St Charles St in the Rockland area. This was our first time at Abigail's and it moves right to the top of the list. The room was great -- although they do need to swap out some really ugly energy-saving light bulbs (which they say they're going to do), the breakfasts were superb, and the staff was incredibly helpful. But perhaps best of all is its location -- on an extremely quiet dead-end but right in the heart of downtown. Less than a 10 minute walk to the BC museum, to Government St, and to Fort St. No need to hassle with the downtown parking meters anymore!! That's huge. We'll be back next year . . .

Room Tip: It is a 3-story building with no elevator, so either be OK with climbing stairs or ask for a room on...

Thank you for this very kind review. We appreciate you taking the time and effort to share your feedback for other prospective travelers to Victoria. We also appreciate you being patient with our new lighting situation which is still being refined. At the end of October we converted over 400 light bulbs from traditional iridescent lights to new state-of-the-art LED lighting. While our desire to be more conscientious of the environment as well as our power consumption is strong, there is definitely a balancing act between functionality which we are still working out. Season’s Greetings from all of us and we look forward to seeing you again next year.

If you are looking for a beautiful, quaint hotel that feels like an inn, Abagail's is the place in Victoria! Excellent, attentive service from everyone. The Foxglove suite is perfect! Breakfasts were delicious and creative. Great location too.

Room Tip: Foxglove is a large corner room with a woodburning fireplace and a hugh bathroom!
