“Beautiful hotel”
Reviewed 7 June 2012

I picked this hotel based on previous reviews. We enjoyed staying at Abigail's. The property is beautiful inside and out. We stayed in the coach house c-4. Carrying heavy luggage up the four flights of steps might seem challenging to some people. The front desk attendents were happy to help if we needed it. The coach house gives you a bit more privacy since it's seperate from the main part. But the drawback is the road noise. At least in c-4. The coach house is built very close to the road. We never heard any other guests but we did wake to road noise each morning. Since this is in a residential area, we were surprised. The room has a fireplace. We used it once. The loveseat is very close to the fireplace. Felt crapped. The other reason I opted for this room was the jetted jacuzzi. This was probably the biggest flaw for us. The jacuzzi was very loud with 4 jets. We only used it once because of this. It just wasn't that peaceful. The timer on/off switch is located about as far away from the tub as possible. Not convenient if you want to turn it off without getting out of the tub. The tub is very deep which is nice for soaking but may be hard for elderly people to get in and out of since it's set into a space. A very nice big rain type shower head. All the soap, shampoo and conditioner is located on the shower wall. Nice. The linens and towels were wonderful. The bed was on the very firm side for my taste. The light switch for the bathroom is outside the bathroom with no way to turn it down once inside the bathroom. With that said, I'd opt to stay in a king room in the main hotel and forgo the fireplace and jacuzzi. We loved the smallness of this hotel. We were greeted each time with a very nice staff. The morning breakfast was truely a treat! A new menu each day with at least 3 options plus fruit, juice, muffin and beverage of choice. Delicious. Promptly waited on with a professional waitstaff. A great start to the day. The afternoon appetizers looked very good, but we only arrived once in time to enjoy them. Walking to the wharf only took about 10 mins. and was a great way to see even more of beautiful Victoria. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want to be away from downtown and want a more unique experience. If you are wondering about tipping at the hotel, they pool the tips and divide them amongst the staff. That was news to me and I thought I'd share this with you. We highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms in main hotel may be quieter since they are off the busy road. There is no elevator but willi...

This was one of most memorable stays anywhere - I arrived for an overnight stay in a very jet-lagged state - I left the following morning in a totally relaxed space, due not least to wonderfully attentive staff, a beautifully prepared room, and an exceptional breakfast that Victoria prepared early (many thank yous!). I have stayed in many wonderful places, but this is near the top of the list. I tried to look for a way to return this trip but it wasn't possible.

Arrived from the floatplane way too early just to drop the bags off, and were greeted like long lost friends, shown to our room and around the hotel, introduced to the chef, and within half an hour felt like we had been there forever. This is just the most perfect hotel (calling it a B&B is doing a huge injustice). The rooms are full of character - ours (2a) had everything we needed, with bags of style and individuality. there's no in room coffee, instead it's all downstairs, together with (at 5-7) brilliant hors d'oeuvres, which guarantees that you'll get conversations with other guests in a fantastic lounge (which comes complete with DVD's, books, games etc. plus a nicely stocked bar).
Then you get to breakfast which is prepared to order by a chef in an open plan kitchen diner, again with lost of conversation between tables and the staff.
All in all this was the best experience of our trip. I can't believe there's anywhere better to stay in Victoria. Avoid it at your peril.

Yes, it really is as good as all the reviews say. Their attention to detail is amazing. Everything is there to make your room and the hotel as comfortable, functional and charming. The staff really is helpful and pleasant. The breakfast is excellent. My only qualifier is room size. We had a cottage double, and after two nights I felt a little claustrophobic. If we visit Victoria again, I would try to get a bigger room.

I don't want to gush, but suffice it to say that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. From the staff to the wonderful room, the fantastic breakfast in bed or the cosy library and the tasty afternoon hors d'ouevres. Oh and the bath! The fantastic roll-top bath! It took an age and half the harbour to fill, but it was worth the wait. Only wish our schedule allowed us more than a day here.

As I wrote in the guestbook: please keep it up, you're doing everything right.

This cute little B&B was the perfect splurge for a special occasion! The staff was wonderful, so nice and accommodating. Both breakfast and evening appetizers were delicious, and our room was immaculate, spacious and smartly decorated. Most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept on :) We had a fireplace suite and our friends had the Foxglove room, both were great but reserve the Foxglove if it's available! It has a huge bathroom with a large jacuzzi tub. It is a bit of a walk into the heart of Victoria, but definitely doable with nice weather.

Room Tip: Get the Foxglove!

We spent two nights at this absolutely wonderful hotel. Every member of staff was so helpful and pleasant. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The breakfasts are a real pleasure with the smell fresh baking being a real treat to wake up to. Good location with just a short walk to the waterfront. Would definately recommend as a great place to stay and use as a base when in Victoria.
