“Great little inn!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 December 2011

We had a fantastic time at this inn. The inn is in a quiet part of Victoria but just a few minutes walk from the downtown area. So we were able to walk easily to shopping and restaurants. Breakfast comes with your room and our breakfasts were enormous and delicious. The only note I'll add is that there is a lot of cream involved (on the fruit, on the eggs, etc.), so if that's not your thing, you might want to mention it in advance. The inn also sets out coffee, tea, sherry, and homemade cookies in the library at night. Fantastic!

We stayed in the Gatekeeper suite. The furniture is not super new, but the beds are very comfortable. Our suite had a main room with a queen (?) bed and fireplace and television along with a small sitting area. Then there is a side room attached with two double beds that you can close off with pocket doors. This was a good room for our family group. The suite also has a small, private garden patio, but this wasn't really useable in the winter.

The staff is very helpful and accomodating. We thought our stay was definitely worth the price and would stay there again without hesitation.

Arland is the reason to go back to this charming B&B. This host made himself available, was invaluable in helping us navigate the city. Breakfast was varied and plenty. Attention to small details throughout the house. Centrally located so you do not need your car.

We stayed here March 2010 with a friend from Alberta -her treat to us.We toured through all the rooms where all were decorated beautifully in Victorian theme, We had a room for the three of us with one king and another room in the sutie with 2 twins. Perfect for us.
The shower facilities were not great as the shower didn't work. Make sure the shower type is what you want. Otherwise it was spendid. The breaky was in a bright room , ask for corner by the window. Wonderful meal.
The library served coffee and goodies aaround 4PM if I remember correctly.
Walking distance to center hrbr if you can walk well. Otherwise bus stop right outside.
Needed some garden work.

Room Tip: Look at all the rooms online. All nice,no view.

We found the service to be wonderful. We arrived early and the Innkeeper was very accommodating and took care of our bags until check-in time, while we went to check out Victoria. The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable and the Inn was very quiet. The two breakfast meals we had while there were delicious! Loved the sherry and cookies available every night too. Definitely would stay there again.

Pleasant departure from the regular hotel experience. We stayed in the Garden Suite and had an exit door to a small patio with chairs and the Inn's front garden. Breakfast was truly Gourmet, different and delicious each morning. The breakfast room and social room were great venues for meeting people from around the world.

We will visit Victoria again and stay at Beaconsfield Inn.

We had booked the Beaconsfield for our last leg of our 2 week family vacation in hopes of ending the trip in a calm and relaxed B&B environment. We had a good stay. There were good aspects and so/so aspects of our duration at the Inn.
First the good things, the home is very historic and has a wonderful interior appeal. The breakfasts were good, different food then what we were used to in a B&B, but still good. The 2 rooms we had were very spacious and the beds were comfortable. The showers have also been recently updated and are also spacious. Evening sherry in the library was enjoyable. Also, the rooms were cleaned on a daily basis. Todd, the "inn keeper" provided a last minute surprise for my parents (roses and wine) which he threw together in a day for me! So that was very nice.

Next, the not so good things....it seems that the actual Inn Keepers don't reside there. Todd, who was the main/only person overseeing our stay was generally busy most of the day and we didn't see him very often. We only felt a slight feeling of "Welcome" when we arrived. He did help us whenever he could though. Also, being from Florida we like our Air Conditioning...while we were comfortable during majority of our stay, it would have been nice to have A/C. So just letting future visitors know there is no A/C. Also, in some of the rooms the furnishings and fixtures probably need an update (the doors and dressers ect.) The location of the Beaconsfield is "good," not great. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the main part of Victoria. I would recommend staying closer to the Inner Harbor (Fairmont Empress or Delta).
I would recommend this place to people just passing through, not so much for people looking to stay for 2 nights or more. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed at times, and the Beaconsfield probably needs a few extra hands around the Inn.
I would not say we were disappointed with our stay, but I think we just expected different. While they are a member of Select Registry, I'm not sure if it has been updated since they received the award about 10 years ago. I have stayed in much nicer Select Registry B&B's.
Regardless, we had a nice stay and I would recommend this B&B.

Room Tip: Gate Keepers suite is very spacious and sleeps 4

This was our fourth stay at the Beaconsfield and we plan to go back next month. It's a perfectly charming Inn....the rooms are amazing, love the antiques, the cozy comfy beds and the gourmet breakfasts each morning. Sherry and fresh baking in the afternoons are lovely as well in the quaint Library.
Todd and Cora are so friendly and helpful and really add to the experience.
Location is amazing, it's in a quiet residential neighbourhood yet you can walk everywhere once arriving.
Can't say enough about this place. LOVE IT
