Worth a weekend visit when there is entertainment and various artisans set up in market style. Lots of restaurants around. Worth a stroll through while you are in the city.

This small mini pedestrian only area (except for 1 cross street) is a great spot for a stroll or pause for shopping and or a drink or dining, or all of the foregoing. It combines history, people watching, interesting vendors selling unique wares, places for liquid refreshments and dining. I typically end up buying at least 1 pair earrings here from the local artisan / jewelry makers. ReBar is a notable and delicious vegetarian restaurant with wonderful, healthful, freshly made juices and main dishes open for brunch, lunch and dinner. Everyone will find something to meet their taste. Make reservations to avoid disappointment. Also don't be put off by Camille's restaurant downstairs location. It has been a long time favourite. More recent addition include Irish bank pub with outdoors seating which is most inviting on a sunny day with another establishment across the square offering the same. At the end, on Wharft Street, you will find a number dining spots. Enjoy!

Bastion Square is a small treat tucked away in downtown Victoria. Thursday-Sunday markets boast vendor booths selling the typical booth offerings...jewellery, art, books, food, etc. Buskers are everywhere on Government Street and are of no exception in this square. We enjoyed our $10 dozen chocolate-dipped strawberries, mangoes and ginger!

This Bastion Square along Government Street is one of the oldest and historical buildings in Downtown Victoria. My niece (a Vancouverite who had been there before) says there’s something eerie about the place.

This is an outdoor market with vendors selling crafts and food. There are also street performers. It is great for browsing and shopping and is another venue that adds to Victoria’s charm.
