The room's décor was upscale and classy with plenty of room. The location was perfect, it was a short walk to the waterfront and shops. The Hotel is across the street from the city hall and one block over to China town. The neighborhood is somewhat eclectic. There were many restaurants close by and the Hotel's own restaurant and bar had wonderful food and drink options. If someone wanted cheap eats there is a Subway, Burger King, and by-the-slice pizza joint one block down. The welcome cheese plate and daily free hot beverage and pastry were a nice touch. The Café Vaneto also serves hot breakfasts and lunch. We had a junior king suite with a sink, microwave and mini fridge that was handy, we also enjoyed the sitting room with a second TV. We took advantage of the Hotel's green program that gave us $10 daily credit in the restaurant for not using daily maid service (which we always prefer anyway). The staff was very friendly from the start and they were super helpful many times answering our many questions about local sights and services. One of the coolest things about the Hotel was the downstairs level under the lobby that had beautiful Asian furniture and a history of the original Chinese owner and his influence in Victoria and BC.
