We hadn't booked accommodation in Victoria and were referred by the tourist bureau to the Royal Scot as a place that was reasonably priced and centrally located. The room we asked for was being renovated so we were asked if we would mind changing to a suite. Wow, it was beautifully appointed - quite luxurious - but we only stay at hotels on holidays to shower and sleep. Of course there was no extra cost for this upgrade. We told the young lady on reception of our dilema concerning ice hockey tickets we thought we had in Vancouver. She immediately went on the internet and booked tickets for us in Victoria for an ice hockey game that night. The manager of the hotel was at the desk at the time and he said the hotel had a free shuttle bus service around the city centre. He said they wouldn't worry about a few extra blocks outside the city centre. Consequently we were delivered to the match and picked up free of charge. This hotel is a great place to stay and have recommended it to others.

We stay here as a family. The location was good as far as getting to points of interest but our room was ground floor, no A/C, opened a window to get fresh air and the screens fell out and bugs got in. The resturant was over priced , so we went across the street to the Days Inn for meals . If we went to Victoria again , that's where we would stay. The staff was very good and the rooms were very well cleaned but not my kind of accomidation.

The Royal Scot has been in Victoria for as long as I can remember. It is a block from Parliament and the water front, and about 10 minutes walk from the cruise ship terminal. The rooms are clean and comfortable. There is no AC but they do provide fans if it gets a tad warm in the room which of course would only be in the summer months. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating, I had the opportunity to use the restaurant for breakfast and dinner and had no complaints about the service or food, it was always hot and good. The next time I visit Victoria I will probably use this hotel again.

We stayed here for 2 nights in November. We loved being close to the inner harbor and walking to restaurants, the Royal BC museum. There was ample parking so having a car was not a problem. The suite was perfect for our party of 5 - lots of room for sleeping, and small and amply stocked kitchen so we could breakfast in before heading out for the day. The kids enjoyed the pool at night.

We stayed one night at their special winter rates which were more affordable. Their summer rates is another issue. In any case the reservation officer when we booked was excellent, and because of her flexiblity we stayed at the Royal Scot rather than our first 2 choices. At check in, the front desk officer was excellent, proactively helpful and professional. The suite was clean with nice extras such as umbrellas, and dressing gowns. We utilized the free shuttle bus service to go to dinner on a snowy miserable night. The service and driver were excellent.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 419 which we also occupied for one night in Dec 2011

I travel to Victoria frequently for business and have stayed at a lot of hotels. This is by far my new favorite and I will be back! From the welcoming, helpful staff at check in to my clean and spacious suite (with free Wi-Fi), my stay was fantastic. Some of the rooms in the hotel are pet friendly so I am excited to bring my family back and the kids will be excited to learn that we can bring the dog. It is always hard to find a dog-sitter for a weekend so this is perfect. Can't wait to come back!

Room Tip: Spend a little extra on the One Bedroom suite - it's like having your own apartment!
