“On the Water”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2012

This property was a bit of a let down. I usually use the Coast in Victoria, which is currently closed for major renovations and on a government budget, I realize I won't get the prime room, so this isn't about the lack of a view in cheap room. indeed the room had a view to the water, it's just that the giant TV and furniture blocked the window, making it hard to see the view. OK, it was January, and it was mostly dark, but still what an odd arrangement, and unfortunate for a hotel with such a prime location on the waterfront, downtown.

The hotel has a bit of tired ambiance. The main entry and lobby seems a bit dim, and past it's prime, when you arrive at night. The appointments seem to have at least a couple of decades on them.

Access to the parking requires use of an intercom to contact the clerk, who opens the gate remotely, allowing you to drive in. The light levels in the parkade are low with bare concrete everywhere. Modern and updated parking facilities have painted white walls for more light. The fact that a construction project appeared to be ongoing near to where I parked and the Security gate on the waterfront side was open combined with a lack of light, didn't provide the optimal feeling of security.

There is an excellent television with high def channels in the room. Service at the desk was fine, and a comfortable bed was the best feature. Everything considered you can get a more up to date hotel for the same price.

This was our second visit to the Regent, the room was not a room per se, but rather a well appointed two bedroom condominium directly on the Victoria Harbour waterfront. We loved watching the float planes and ferries. The room was very comfortable and spacious and you are walking distance from the major sights and shopping. We all wish we could have stayed longer.

A fantastic stay in a suite on the 8th floor overlooking the inner harbour of Victoria! For what you get, the rates are quite reasonable! Staff are outstanding and amenities are plentiful. If the hotel doesn't have it, it is centrally located to shops and other retailers. We held our reception in the suite; 35 people fit quite nicely in there! Very happy with our choice.....

Room Tip: Rooms on 8th floor are suites.....

This is a wonderful hotel and we have stayed here before. Unfortunately, this time we booked 2 rooms (one for our son and girlfriend and one for us) through hotels.com. Be forewarned that for the DELUXE ROOM information, they are showing the ONE BEDROOM SUITE information. The deluxe room is a hotel room - no kitchenette, etc as the hotels.com website promises. Before booking with hotels.com, it would probably be prudent to see if the information provided by any hotel's website re their accommodation matches the information put out by hotels.com

I absolutely adore this hotel. The two bedroom/two bath plus kitchenette suites are well appointed (not modern but constantly being tastefully updated), and they are huge by any city's standards. There is no better location in the city (you can walk to the parliament buildings, the Empress hotel for tea (beautiful but rooms are too small), and many great restaurants) and view of the harbor is absolutely stunning. If by chance you choose to take the sea plane here from Vancouver, the planes land very close to the hotel. The hotel also offers a nice breakfast (continental but including boiled eggs, fruit, toast etc.) which can be delivered to your room for a very small fee. I don't know who wouldn't enjoy this hotel but it especially good for families. Stay here. You will not be disappointed. P.S. With regards to the poor WIFI note in another review, I am using it and have had no problems.

Room Tip: Spend the extra for a 2 bedroom suite with a water view.

I've visited this hotel several times and love it. Perfect location. The free contenintal breakfast is awesome, an actual meal. Out of the last 4 stays I've been upgraded 3 times to a suite for free.

After a very late arrival from Australia (9pm) - no hassel at check in - it was fantastic to make it to our two bedroom suite (room 704). It was well equipped with a full kitchen, lounge room, dining table and a balcony overlooking the marina.
Whilst there was no airconditioning, opening the balcony doors (one in each bedroom plus the lounge room) let the air come through. The only challenge was when the sea planes iddled out the front - the fuel smell permeated the suite for a while, but eventually went away. I didn't enjoy the noise or the smell, but my fellow travellers loved being able to see the planes come and go - to each their own!
There was a free breakfast available (porridge, toast, juice, cereals and fruit) - it was nothing special, but the staff were hard working and very helpful. That being said, with the full kitchen, I made my own breakfast most mornings of our four night stay.
The undercover parking was handy, free internet access was reliable and the business centre had everything we needed.
The rooms were very clean and the reception staff helpful and welcoming (not bad when they were dealing with a difficult and boisterous golfing group).
We were able to walk to the BC Museum, around the Inner Harbour, to the shopping precinct and there were several restaurants nearby (we went to The Keg, which was OK).
I would definitely stay here again.
