Dump with great location

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jun 23, 2017
Location can not be beat, staff friendly. Stayed in 412, needs maintenance, closet doors not sliding properly, wall heating unit pulled apart, looks trashy, rubber strip across bathroom door loose, Housekeeping missed doing room one day, towels and dish towels for kitchen not replaced, had to request wood floor get washed as it was gritty, dust bunny balls in closet, extra blanket in drawer soiled,no wine glasses in kitchen, disqusting old cutting board in kitchen, elevator to rooms requires no security to rooms,
allowing any one from bar area or street to enter and use elevator to room area,NOISY,
Especially weekends as bar patrons leave well past midnight.
Date of stay: June 2017
Room Tip: Higher up probably best, front has view of ocean but over popular front outside bar

We arrived several hours before the 3 pm check in but we're given a parking pass so we could park and go on walking tour. No AC but you really don't need it given the typically cool evening temperatures. There was a fan in our room that did the trick Rooms are smaller and spartan but clean and comfortable. Great value. Enjoyed our stay. Would definately stay here again.

Check in was great. All the staff from the front desk, the restaurant, the people cleaning the rooms were great. Had a corner room. Good view of the harbour, except for the trees in the way. The first shock came when we went into the room. The door slammed shut louder than any I had ever heard. Second shock. No air conditioner. I have never stayed in any hotel or motel that didn't have A/C. The corner room had two windows that opened and it wasn't all that hot so that helped. The problem with the open windows in the day time was all the noise from the cars/trucks driving by and all the stench from the diesel engines. That went away at night time but then the noise started from the pub patio just below the window. So again you couldn't have the window open. It was then that we found out that our door wasn't the only one that slammed shut. All through the night there was nothing but doors slamming until at least 3:00 AM. There were a few more problems but you get the picture. I would never stay there again and would never recommend this hotel to anyone

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. It's nice to hear you found our staff great and we appreciate our guests feedback so we can continue to make improvements to our services and amenities. Most hotels in Victoria don't have a/c as we have a wonderful breeze off the ocean that cools the evenings down, we're sorry if that wasn't the case during your stay. We hope you will consider giving us another opportunity to see you again in the future for your accommodation needs and thank you again for writing.

The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything. There is a restaurant on the ground floor and the noise from the patio is unbelievable. In addition, the room smelled like a deep fryer full of old and dirty oil - presumably wafting up from the restaurant. At least the windows open but, onto a ledge. If you're feeling brave I guess you could leave it open while you are out of your room and hope that no one would be bold enough to crawl onto the ledge and through your open window (there is high visibility from the street). The bathroom door hits the toilet, the shower rod is pushed so far into the shower that there is no way to avoid touching the shower curtain - love sharing a bath with strangers!

Convenient for a drink and a bite (try the boneless ribs, blackened halibut and fiery prawns). There's a liquor store around the back if you're looking for a something to take back to ur lodging. Good spot to people-watch even if it is raining... snag a window seat and settle back.
