We are committed to preserving the culture and tradition of the region with the utmost standards within culinary experiences. Our versatile menu offers a selection of fresh and natural ingredients, wholesome sauces and flavourful spices. Following the success of our first downtown location, Since opening our doors in 2012, we have been named the best Indian Restaurant three years in a row in Victoria. Tandoor means "clay oven." It is traditionally used for the baking of bread, meat, poultry and fish. The clay oven - for oil and fat-free cooking - is practical and energy-efficient. Today's taste and health conscious consumers will find Tandoor cooking truly compatible and modern. All of our food is natural and freshly-prepared daily on the premises with no additives or preservatives. Our Chef's endeavor to create a large variety of savory clay oven barbecued dishes and exotic curries for your tasting journey.

“We Love This Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 February 2012

We went (again) to Sizzling Tandoor for lunch yesterday; and ordered several dishes to take home for dinner. We have eaten in one of London England's premier Indian restaurants and this place does a wonderful job for considerably less cost.

Yesterday for lunch we had lamb vindaloo, a veggie biryani and the best naan...For dinner we brought home lamb korma (curry made with cashews), tandoori chicken, some veggie pakoras and the leftover biryani and lamb vindaloo and some roti. What a feast.

I have tried the lunch buffet, but would not recommend it. It may be less expensive, but the quality isn't the same as ordering the dishes from the menu.

Service is ok, friendly and well meaning, but admittedly a little 'uneven' and on previous visits it has been better paced. The decor is modest. But the food (from the menu, remember, not the buffet) has never disappointed me on 4 separate visits.

Can't wait for a chance to return.

“Non-existent Service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2012

A couple of friends and I had the $12 lunch buffet on a relatively but not overly busy Friday. We all felt the food was mediocre and the service very poor. This was a big disappointment after reading so many positive reviews. The chicken and beef dishes were mainly sauce, as people had scooped out the meat, and the staff were very slow to replenish the supply. The first batch of beef dish was tender, but the second batch that was finally brought out was tough and full of bones. There were about 8 hot dishes in total, including tasteless plain white rice. For dessert, there was finely chopped canteloupe and a very nicely seasoned rice pudding. The main dishes had a good level of curry for our taste, but a couple of them weren't at all appetizing. The naan bread was somewhat greasy. Where this restaurant really falls down is the poor service. The server simply plopped down the water and naan bread at the beginning, and we were left on our own for the remainder of the meal, without anyone even stopping by to ask how we were doing. Our dirty plates plied up and water glasses remained empty until one of our group got up and brought back a pitcher of water. At the buffet, there were actually no plates for a great deal of the time, so we had to go up and refill the same plates, which is against foodservice regulations in BC. It was the same situation with the small bowls for the rice pudding. The bathroom was very nice, and the dining room decor nondescript, but clean. Needless to say, we didn't leave a tip.

“Really Tasty”

We really enjoyed the food, including the Nan, which was delightful. They have a lunch buffet, which would allow you to sample many different things.

“Clean, friendly, delicious food.”

The couple who own this restaurant are charming and attentive. The food is delicious (we've had only vegetarian selections - and there are a lot to choose from), the atmosphere unpretentious and friendly, the bathrooms are clean!
