“Brings great directors, designers and players to an intimate setting--like it should be!”
Review of Belfry Theatre

Belfry Theatre
Ranked #42 of 139 things to do in Victoria
Attraction details

We're theatre-goers from way back. The Belfry has a community vibe yet is a "beyond community" theatre, bringing in players, designers and directors acclaimed in Canada and abroad. I know--(disclaimer) many have stayed in our short-stay suites! Had a great time at the last show--going again this month.

They make innovative use of the space (main stage, studio and even the lobby area "story nights" to extend enjoyment of theatre. Opportunity for pre- and post show events (e.g. interviews with those involved in a production and after opening "discussion periods") bring the experience out of the passive, sit and watch into engagement that makes quite a difference.

Nearby are excellent restaurants and food venues, from Jamaican pockets to pre-dinner repasts (e.g. Stage, Ça Va Bistro Moderne, Fernwood Inn).

All in all, this slice of Victoria at Fernwood and Gladstone can be a destination visit...enjoy!

Stand under the bell tower and experience the flavour of old English charm.
Actually known as The Singing Tower, The Netherlands Centennial Carillon, Victoria, BC. Installed in 1967; with 49 bells, and later increased to 62 bells in 1971. The bells add to the ambience and fascination of this beautiful old English inspired City.

The ambiance is lovely and the acoustics are great in this converted church. The neibourhood is interesting, with 3 good restaurants; fun to make an evening of it! However, this is a pedestrian precinct in Fernwood, so parking can be difficult. Best to take a taxi, or be willing to park 3 blocks away at the neighbourhood school's parking lot.

This is a small theater that is very comfortable and the plays are of top quality. It is well worth the visit.
