“Early Glamour.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 March 2012

Another of Victoria's landmarks. This is a must to see and please go in and enjoy the High Tea. Some say it is expensive but hey put the money away and go in and enjoy being treated. It is worth the visit and they have some very splendid shops inside to peruse and if so inclined buy.

“Fair tea, just go for the formal experience”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 March 2012

it's overpriced for what you get as far as "high-tea" (stateside tea rooms provide more "goodies" and a more intimate setting.) But considering their volume and the setting, it's the best you can get in Victoria, and a must-do at least once.

Well its the Empress, it just is. Its pretentious but carries it off. The Bengal Lounge is a nice place for a quiet drink

“Five Star All the way”

Tour the grounds or stop and have Tea served in the old fashion way. It is right across from the water front.

“Majestic Fairmont Empress”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 March 2012

We spent at the Fairmont Empress one night during "Be a Tourist in your own city" celebration in Victoria. As part of this celebration the Hotel offered the rates no one could resist. We've stayed in a Fairmont Room on the 4th floor facing Humboldt Street, which was great. We've paid 75 $ (no parking) plus HST and Hotel tax - total of some 86 dollars. The room was small, but in style, with 2 double beds with posturepedic mattresses... Big screen flat TV, fancy toilettries, assortment of organic teas and complimentary creamers plus seagulls on the window sill outside - have added to the charm. Still the receptionists didn't make us feel really welcome. Their manners were professional, but not warm. The room wasn't ready by the check-in time. We were not told there is a swimming pool, jaccuzzi and a sauna and were not given any information hand-outs. But of course after i've asked for that i've got a beatifully designed information package and the robes for the pool. Still i rate the experience as excellent.
