The Empress is the icon of the city of Victoria. A lovely place to meander through. Beware of the lure of the famous "High Tea". it costs a fortune. Instead, have a snack with or without tea in the restaurant at the side of the hotel that has all the Tiffany lamps. much cheaper and plenty nice!
At Christmas, walk the halls and enjoy all the Christmas trees on display. How many are there? 50, 75, 100?
The Empress is a must see for anyone visiting for the first time.

We purchased a High Tea option as part of our CVS Victoria bus tour. The tour (which included a tour of Craigdorrach Castle) with the High Tea option was only a few dollars more than what it would have cost for the High Tea by itself.

You must visit the Empress Hotel to get a sense of Victoria. A walk-through is free and the picture gallery on the ground floor chronicles the Hotel in her heyday! Special events at different times of the year are generally free and the shops offer exquisite art from around BC and Canada.

It was close to the bay, a nice room with good service. Pricey for the service. I will say... Been there, saw it, wouldn't pay that much again. Saw other places that were just as nice

Nice walk from cruise pier, also close to Mile 0 of Trans-Canada highway. At lower level there are superb historic photos tracing the roots of this hotel. Really is a grand one.Too late for high tea. Next time.
