Stopped in while on cruise in Victoria. Mostly children inside, but a handful of adults (or big kids). Staff was friendly and told good stories about the bugs. Got to hold many of the bugs too. If your into that thing, worth a stop.

As most have said, this is fairly unassuming building ... it has a small room with lots of displays and bugs ... only worth it it to follow the tour guide, and get lots of info and hold the bugs. Complete tour lasts roughly an hour but we spent 2 hrs there with a 2 yr old ... really smart to have "colouring station" for kids to draw, he loved holding the bugs.

My boys (6 & 8) loved this spot. It is a small museum with lots to look at. Definitely take advantage of the staff giving the tour. The kids got to touch and hold all kinds of bugs.

If you love bugs, this is the place. They have lots of bugs and let the kids touch them. It's quite small so you pay for the novelty. Unless you seriously love bugs, you might find this overpriced. But on a rainy day in Victoria there aren't a lot of choices for kids. The people who work there are super friendly and work hard to educate the kids and to make this a great experience.

We followed the signs off Douglas street and ended up going through some labyrinth of halls and such in a large structure following the "to shops" and "bug zoo" signs. The actual entrance is on another street but we got there, which would have been instantly "there" but we had followed a sign from the street instead.

I've never been to another "bug zoo" so have no real comparisons to rate.

The "zoo" consisted on a gift shop (where you pay to go in and a variety of gifts, including chocolate covered bugs or flavoured bug treats).

There is a "tour" (consisting of one individual guide talking about the various displays and some handling of some of the bugs). We didn't use the guide as the zoo is two rooms with lots of various display cases of various live bugs. I don't like to be too close to bugs so stayed away from that, did look at the displays though.

Various types of "bugs" including different types of live stick and leaf bugs, scorpions, spiders, beetles, cockroaches, centipede, millipede, and live ant tunnels, and others. Lots of dead butterfly displays on the wall of many different types.

There are some beautiful butterfly dishes (bowls/plates) in the gift shop.

Good for kids to see the different types of bugs in person!
