“Loved it!!”

Experienced a fantastic time on this tour. We ended up spending 20 minutes watching the resident pod of killer whales swimming (there are over 80 whales in this pod) around in sleeping mode, with the mountains as a backdrop. Beautiful and spectacular! We also were lucky enough to see some shy porposies, two humpback whales (also in sleeping mode), a bald eagle, and lots of sealiones. I took lots of photos! Our tourguide was called Rush, and he was entertaining, interested, and provided good information. It was cold out there on the ocean, even though it was a warm day in Victoria, so don;t be afraid to bring hat and jumper (they provide you with a warm jumpsuit too).

Hi jwalker888, thank you for your great review of Prince of Whales! I am delighted to hear that you had so much fun out on the zodiac; add to that sightings of Killer Whales and Humpbacks and it sounds just about perfect! We are very fortunate to see multiple species of cetaceans in our waters and very privileged to get to share this with visitors to Victoria. Thanks for coming out!

“Excellent tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 December 2011

This tour was fantastic! I chose a morning departure on a glorious sunny day, and I was not disappointed. The ride out was beautiful, and we saw so many whales. Some came up quite close to the boat. Excellent value for money!

Hi Yorkesgirl! Thank you for your kind review of Prince of Whales; we are delighted that you enjoyed the zodiac ride and that you were rewarded for going on the morning tour by getting to see lots of whales! We always do our best to show our guests as much wildlife as we can; so I am glad to hear that it worked out for you to see Orcas as well as other types of marine wildlife on our tour. Safe travels!

“Well worth it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 November 2011

Whale watching trips aren't cheap, but this one was fantastic and well worth the money. We chose to go out on one of the faster Zodiac boats for a half-day trip; the ride out was great fun once the boat got up to speed, and we then saw a pod of killer whales (and being the first trip of the day, there were no other groups around at the time). Our guide on the boat was knowledgeable and friendly, and we were also able to see eagles, cormorants and seals on the way back as an added bonus. Definitely a 'must do' on a trip to Victoria.

“Spectacular!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 November 2011

We were whale watching in November so we expected it to be cold, and it was, but it was so worth it!! Our guide Mark was extremely knowledgeable and he knew exactly where to go to find whales, even though it wasn't peak season anymore. The day was beautiful. Sunny, calm waters, and chilly - but you get survivor suits that definitely help with the wind. It only took about 20 minutes to find our first pod of Killer Whales and we got SO close. Another 20 minute boad ride and we found a different Pod. This one had a little baby! We stayed near them for a while and took some amazing pictures. Then we raced over to the "Mens Club" where we saw a bunch of Sea Lions. We had so much fun. Everyone on the boat was excited and having a great time. I would highly recommend this adventure for anyone visiting Victoria during any season!

“Awesome sights and a great guide!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 November 2011

Went out today on the zodiac for a great trip. I have lived in Victoria for decades but have never gone whale watching. Saw lots of killer whales, both local and transient pods. A couple times the pod swam right towards the boat!

Our guide was Mark who was knowledgeable and friendly and knew right where to go to see the whales.

The weather was excellent and my pictures turned out great. Would definitely recommend, the whole boat had a great time.

Hello Marcspeed, I’m so pleased you chose Prince of Whales for your first whale watching experience! I love it when locals join us and we’re able to share this part of our community with them. I’ll pass on your praise to Mark – around the office we suspect he’s mastered his own version of echolocation as he always seems to find the whales! Please feel free to share your pictures with us.

Cheers,
