“Best whale watching in Victoria!”
Reviewed 15 November 2015

I went on 6 trips with Eagle Wing this summer, and loved them all! The boats are no doubt the best, and the staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and professional.
The open boats are fast and fun, while the Catamaran "4 Ever Wild" is a little slower, but very comfortable, I found that the catamaran was better for photography.
I saw orcas on all the trips (both Residents and Transients), and not just by luck, but because Eagle wing literally went that extra mile.
The Sunset tour was by far my favorite, watching the orcas as the sun was setting, it doesnt get much better than that, and there are less boats on the water, and the hot chocolate at the end of the trip was lovely.
But watch out, you get addicted! I'm returning next year for more whale watching :)

Good afternoon Malekox,
Thank you for choosing Eagle Wing Tours for your whale-watching holiday! I'm so glad we were able to go "that extra mile" for you - it sounds like you had some amazing encounters while you were with us. I'm glad you decided to try both our open, high-performance speedboats, and our covered catamaran; each type of vessel offers a unique experience, though both provide for amazing whale-watching opportunities. The sunset tour during the summer months is indeed a spectacular option, especially for avid photographers.
We appreciate the detailed feedback, and we look forward to seeing you again next summer!
All the best,
Mika

First off the captain is very good at his job, the tour says approx 3 hrs, ours was 4 hrs, the team on board was very knowledgeable and always pointed out sights to see, the tour included a quick trip to the seals ecological habitat, our boat went over to the San Juan islands, we saw lots of whales. Highly recommended

Dear LadyCavalier,
Thank you for your kind words about our captain and crew! It sounds like you had a great trip. Our tours often run on the longer side so we always recommend making reservations when there are no pressing appointments to return to - give yourself a couple of extra hours just in case the trip is extended! We will always go above and beyond to get to the whales (even if they are a bit further out of range than usual), and we make sure you have plenty of time with the wildlife, from the whales to the seals, sea birds, porpoises, and anything else we can find out there!
We appreciate your feedback, and we look forward to seeing you again the next time you are in Victoria.
All the best,
Mika

“Friendly staff, great tour!”
Reviewed 3 November 2015

This was a great tour with very friendly staff/guides! The guides were very friendly and informative. They helped us spot whales, told us what to expect, shared stories. They were great.

We saw LOTS of humpback whales, seals, sea lions and birds – even a bald eagle. No orcas, as it was kind of late in the season to spot them.

The tour itself was late October, on one of Eagle Wing's indoor/outdoor boats. The boats hold 50 (they told us), but we only had 20 or so on with us. That size was actually really nice because you could move around easily. I'd wonder how crowded it gets on deck with more people. The deck on the boat was one that you walked on, not one with the rows of seats.

The boat was large enough that I don't think the rocking was too bad. No one got sea sick. And we had all ages on board with us – young and old.

The boats launch from Fisherman's Wharf in Victoria, not too far from downtown. (We did walk, but may be a hike for some people.) Plan to spend some time walking around the docks – lots of pretty boats, cute floating houses, and a few restaurants. There are also some friendly seals that hang out by the docks and you can by fish to throw out to them.

In planning my trip, the Eagle Wing staff was very helpful giving me advice on how to get from Vancouver to Victoria, which ferry to take and what time to leave. They had to change the time of our tour due to weather, and they called me to see if that was okay and make sure I could still get there on time.

Would definitely recommend this tour, and hope to be back myself one day!

Good afternoon Danielle L,
Many thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us! Your crew will be pleased to know that you had such a great trip. Even though we may not be in peak season, there is still so much to see out there. It has been an amazing year for humpback whales, both in terms of numbers and location. They have made a remarkable comeback, and we always feel very lucky to see so many of them return with their calves year after year.
Great idea to give yourself extra time at Fisherman's Wharf - it is a unique little community and a great place to hang out and have lunch, and don't forget an ice cream for dessert!
We look forward to seeing you the next time you visit Victoria.
All the best,
Mika
