The gardens are long and very well maintained. Open all year long very interesting any time of the year. The gardens are located on the campus of the unversity of Victoria. Many paths to choose from leading you on to a different garden to see. Different varieties of flowers , plants and trees. Do not forget your camera

This was our second trip to Finnerty, which in our view ranks with the best that we have visited in Europe, the US and elsewhere in Canada. The gardens are extensive, extremely well maintained, interesting at any time of year and free!!!!

The Finnerty Gardens are on the campus of the University of Victoria. The paths wind and twist through the garden leading you to the different area. It is a woodland style of garden so there are few garden beds. Having said that, there are an enormous number of interesting species of plants, flowers and trees - some of them are labeled. A great place to visit for photographers.

If you are driving or biking or visiting UVIC make this small garden a destination in the city especially in April and May when the rhodos are in full power. There is a green lawn at the entrance where your kiddos can romp and you can picnic before staying on the paths of the garden. And if you have your good walking shoes on, find the forest walks around the perimeter of UVIC at any time of the year (especially nice for Eastern visitors this winter)

These gardens are attached to the University of Victoria. Although there are some specimens that bloom a bit later in the year, the best time to visit is between mid-March and mid-May, The rhododendron collection is beautifully displayed under a high canopy of evergeens, interspersed with camellias, magnolias, Japans maples and, in sunnier spots, azaleas, under planted with a variety of ground covers. Admission is free, but you will have to pay for parking, except for Sunday's, when there is no charge. Humming birds abound in this garden. We spent about 90 minutes enjoying the gardens but could have spent much longer. There are park benches where one can sit and just soak up the beauty.
