“A great vegetarian restaurant”
Reviewed 22 September 2011

This was my first time to the Lotus Pond. I am a vegetarian and this was the best vegetarian restaurant food I have eaten. The food is in the style of typical Chinese food. It is hard to believe that you are not eating at a typical Chinese restaurant. Yet all of the food is vegetarian. The decor is simple, but clean. Only downside for some may be that the restaurant is right next door to a Polish meat restaurant. I had the buffet and you pay by the weight. My meal was $8. My wife's was $6, so very reasonable.

“Tasty vegan asian food!”
Reviewed 3 July 2011

The Lotus Pond is a great little place in Victoria. Even your non-vegan/vegetarian friends will love the large selection and delicious options. The Szechuan Ginger "Beef" and Lemon Mock "Chicken" are favorites!
Portions are very filling (we always leave with extra to take home). I'd recommend their combination dinners - a great way to try multiple items from the menu. Friendly staff and lightning quick service makes this a super satisfying place!

“Great Vegetarian Fare, But Don't Arrive Around 2:30”
Reviewed 12 October 2009

We really enjoyed the food here. I had read great reviews elsewhere and was recommended by our hotel. I will say that this is a typical hole in the wall-type Chinese place. Nothing fancy but the server was very helpful and friendly, but slow. It appeared that they could have used more employees. But the food was very good, not greasy at all. I will agree that they focus on meat substitutes, but we found several very good dishes with lots of vegetables, perfectly prepared. Everything is very light on the seasoning, as follows the Buddist reality that the restaurant is based, so definately ask for hot sauce. I would suggest never coming in for lunch after 2pm (lunch service ends at 3pm then reopens for dinner at 5pm). Their buffet goes to half price at 2:30pm and the crowds that poured in were astonishing...this caused a huge slow down of the already "leisurely" pace of the service. This is a very small restaurant, so get there early or wait until dinner.

“Bargain - great options”
Reviewed 26 May 2008

Nice vegan buffet, but surprisingly low on fresh veg - more emphasis on faux meat and carb dishes. The food was seasoned salty, but not "hot." You must ask for pepper oil/sauce - and you MUST!

My only wish-list is that everything was served about 15 degrees warmer. I've eaten there several times and will so again.
