Do yourself a favour and enjoy one of the cultural highlights of Whistler. Guided tours by locals, beautifully preserved artifacts within a large gallery, friendly staff, truth telling about Canada's not too stellar past, and an opportunity to try indigenous made fare is available. You will walk away learning about First Nations culture and why it absolutely matters in your own life.

This is a wonderful experience. The guides are very friendly and informative. Our tour of the grounds included a walk inside a traditional dwelling built of red cedar. We also took a walk through the surrounding gardens containing native flora and a detailed description of the traditional herbs used for medicinal purposes by the Squamish and Lil’wat. We leaned about plants such as red flowering currant, Oregon grape, Labrador tea, salmon berries, “Old man’s beard” and Devils club and how these are used for various ailments . We were also given a cup of tea made from the berries found in the surrounding gardens. Our guide sang in his native language and blessed the tea which made the experience even more special! There is beautiful artwork inside including totem poles and sculptures. The building itself is a work of art. There is also a film presentation which presents the very fascinating history of the relationship between two first nations peoples ( the Squamish and Lil’wat).

From the dugout canoe being build on the forecourt, the guided tour inside and the exhibits everything was just about a perfect experience A real education into the culture and history of the Squamish and Lilwat First Nations.
A must for any visitor to Whistler.

Take the time to see how the local native tribes have saved much of their history. Amazing displays and video presentations. Great gift shop
The timetable of the Rocky Mountaineer train allowed a full afternoon in Whistler. The Cultural Centre gave an excellent insight into the history and culture of the local First Nation. We joined a guided tour (and introductory video) which enabled us to then benefit from more detailed examination of the exhibits at our own pace.
The exhibits are well presented in a light and airy building.
Highly recommended for anyone staying in or passing through Whistler.
