Trying very hard to find something negative about this hotel, service, location and staff. A must is up grade to Gold, the breakfasts included are as good as Gleneagles Scotland, in a more intimate setting, morning coffee excellent , the cakes are to die for, while the after 4 O'clock spread is not to be missed to take the edge off hunger pains from a day on the slopes.
The staff could not have been more helpful without being oppressive. Rooms well appointed, very comfortable.bed. while the open fire in the room was perfect and an enhancement to any room hotel or not. Skiing again perfect door to door the only problem being which runs to choose for the day.
N.B. Make sure you take half a day out to go on the husky mushing with the Whistler Sled Dog Company.Five star plus.

Room Tip: Invest in the Gold upgrade

Stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler during Whistler ski and snowboard festival with my wife, my 3 year old and an infant. The trip was a celebration for my wifes birthday. Check in was fast, and there was a happy birthday cake in the room waiting for us with plates and forks and napkins and everything else we needed.
Room was a Fairmont room with 2 queen beds and a view of the slopes. Being able to lay in bed in the morning and watch the skiers and boarders coming down the mountain as a great way to start a day and to keep a kid entertained for a while.
Wireless connection was good, we always bring the ipad for netflix in case we need a digital babysitter for a bit of quiet time.
Pools were warm and a lot of fun, not too busy.
The trail out to the lower village is easy to find and its only a 5 minute walk to where all the festivities were going on. Friends in the lower village complained of the noise, we didn't have that issue in the upper village, the relative serenity is well worth the price.
Daily maid service was nice, and they timed it well between our going in and out of the room. The kettle for boiling water was handy for both tea, and for heating the bottles. The mini fridge keeps things cool rather than cold, but it was fine for the 2 days we were there.
On the way out, we had the hot chocolate experience at Portobello. Sitting on the overstuffed leather couches and chairs drinking some of the best hot chocolate I've ever had, great way to end the trip.

Room Tip: The Deluxe category is nice if you need a bit of extra floor space, but even the Fairmont rooms are...

Return visit after several years and found the service fantastic. Great people in all areas couldn't do enough - thank you.
Lovely room overlooking the slopes and they've changed the beds which were very comfortable plus added new TV's. The bathroom need updating but was not an issue.
Some say the hotel needs updating, possibly depends if you like the dark wood feel throughout.
Lunch/bar prices not great value.
Nothing spoilt our visit.
Thank you and well done to the team.

Room Tip: Slope side room is best.

I took my husband to Whistler for the weekend on his birthday this year. The weather was wonderful, great skiing, hiking, sunshine- Easter weekend. What a surprise to arrive at our luxury hotel to find the lobby teaming with little kids and dogs. Yes dogs. Everywhere. And kids everywhere- in the restaurants, in the bar! Not a destination I would recommend if you are not particularly keen on sharing your hotel space with dogs. Why can't people leave their pets at home? Isn't that what kennels are for?

Room Tip: This hotek needs a face-lift.

This hotel offers all that you could expect in a 5 star resort hotel - and for the skier it is ideally located an easy one minute walk to the ski lifts.

Room Tip: Mountain view rooms are spectacular.

Fairmont Whistler is located within a 5 minute walk to the Whistler Village where the main restaurants and shopping are located. It is located right at the base of the Blackcomb Lift so great for skiing. Fairmont Gold rooms and suites are great! The other rooms in the hotel are starting to show a bit of wear but are still lovely. Wonderful lodge type lobby is great for evening cocktails on the mountain side. Great outdoor pool and hot tubs on the mountain side as well.
Professional, friendly staff
Ask for a room on the mountain side of the hotel where the views are more peaceful. The rooms on the village side also have great mountain views but overlook the parking areas.
Great hotel!

Room Tip: Ask for the mountain side of the hotel and if you can afford to upgrade to the Gold Rooms do it!

Had a fantastic stay in April. Loved the hotel and it gives a feeling of a true luxury place but what made it a fantastic stay was the friendly, professional, pleasant staff. They helped with everything whether inside or outside the hotel and we felt well looked after.

Certainly the best hotel in Whistler.
