When you look at taking a vacation you naturally want to stay at the top ranked place, so when a week came up for exchange, and after we saw the reviews on Trip Advisor, we jumped at the opportunity to stay here. It pains me to say that our week here has been down right awful. We called a week ahead of time to request a quiet room, we didn't ask for a corner room on the top floor, just a quiet room. So where did they stick us? Right over the hot tub on the fourth floor on the side of the hotel with the waterslide (read: lots of kids). I hate, hate, hate it when a hotel is built around its pools, and this one is. Pools should be seperate from living areas so guests are not annoyed by the noise. The pools here are front and center. When we brought our room issue to the attention of the hotel attendant she verified that, yes, our reservation did show our request for a quiet room, and, no, she doesn't know why we were put in the room we were put in (464 A&B). And of course, when we asked if there was any other rooms available we were given one option, another room on the other side of the hotel which was, naturally, right above the other pool and facing the street. No thanks.

It has been constant noise from the second we got here. As others have noted there is no air conditioning in the rooms so to get any fresh air in you have to open up the windows and use the fans to blow air in. Of course with the windows open the noise from the pool ,and then later, the noise from the hot tub, come funneling right into your room. It's nice that they turn the waterslide off at 8pm because it sends many of the kids back to their rooms. But it in no way makes it quiet outside. The hot tub is then occupied by kids and adults alike until 11pm. Actually, we've had to call the front desk on four of the six nights we've been here to have them clear the hot tub out after 11pm. Last night there was 25 people in the hot tub, drinking and being very loud, until 11:30pm. It was only after two calls from us and apparently calls from other guests (the attendant let on to this fact) that the noise was finally quieted down, which then allowed us to finally go to sleep some time after midnight.

The time we went to bed wouldn't be a problem if the floors in this place were built better. When the elephants above us walk it actually shakes you where you sit, I kid you not. You will be sitting in the living room area on the couch, the person above you will walk across their floor and it shakes your floor. This of course, is great at 6 am, when the elephants decide to get up and graze about...you know...move furniture and the like. It's also really neat to hear them jump on the beds, carry on conversations, and have sexual relations (yes, it's great to be privy to all this noise, and I mean all this noise, at 12:30 am)

When I walk outside down the middle of the hotel through the courtyard, it's like being in another world. It's so quiet that it doesn't seem like the courtyard side could be part of the same property, but alas, it is, and I'm frusterated to think what our vacation would have been like had our simple request of a "quiet room" been granted. I cannot recommend this place to anyone, nor will we ever come back here. It's a shame because the beds are actually quite comfortable, the kitchen is well appointed, the bedrooms are large, the jet tubs are nice (if not a bit old and yellowed), the underground parking is nice, the free buses are nice, the exercise room is nice, and the location of the hotel itself is central.

But the fact remains, our vacation has been such a noisy headache that we were looking at leaving three days early and flying home. If it weren't for the exorbitant fees involved in changing a plane ticket we would be home by now catching up on our much needed sleep. As it is we're stuck here for two more nights being held hostage by the pool noise, then hot tub noise, then the elephants above us.
Find somewhere else to stay, somewhere where they'll accomodate your simple request for a quiet room.

As for recreation (which has nothing to do with this hotel) we did the Ecotrek Zipline tour and the Wild Play ropes course, both of which were a lot of fun.

My husband and I bought Club Intrawest membership about 10 years ago and since then we've gone back to Whistler every ski season. We love Whistler and we love Club Intrawest. In general the rooms are very good, we usually take a 1-bedroom lodge home, these are on the 5th floor and are slightly more pricey than the regular rooms but have a few extras. The kitchen is very well equipped with a big fridge/freezer, you have your own laundry room with washer/tumble dryer, a big oven, microwave and dishwasher. The walk in shower is very nice if a little old-fashioned looking and the bedrooms are a good size. Some of the crockerty and glassware is a little "clunky" in my opinion and we usually buy some wineglasses when we arrive as drinking wine out of their thick glass tumblers is a bit grim. Also the rooms are very dark, I do understand they are trying to economise on energy but it would be good to be able to sit on the sofa and see the book you're reading! One of the big issues for us is the wi-fi. It is free, which is good, but it is very unrealiable, and there isn't an option to pay for a better service. We run our own business and take 2 laptops away with us and need to work most days, but sometimes the internet there is unusable because it's so slow and keeps dropping out. We talked to the reception desk about this and their answer is basically, "yeah we know it's pretty bad." Every year we give feedback about this but nothing has changed yet. There are a few other little niggles, like the bed doesn't have a light switch on both sides so both lights are operated by a switch on one side of the bed, which means I have to lie in bed with my light on while my husband reads. Considering we pay approx $2,000 CAD per year for maintentance/mangement fees I think they could update some of these things to give better value. By the way, join the facebook fan page for Club Intrawest Whistler at http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Club-Intrawest-Members-Whistler/238975050887 to join discussions about the accommodation.

Arriving at the Magical Hotel was such an awesome experience, we were treated like family and will return. The hot apple cider at the entrance to the hotel is very welcoming. A must is a jacuzzi under the stars, the eucalyptus steam rooms are amazing.

This resort has everything you could possibly need or want. This has been the second Club Intrawest I have stayed at, and to be honest, it has been a great experience. If you like to bike and bike you will not be disappointed. They miles/kilometers of paved , gravel, and dirt trails. The resort has a small theater and shows three movies a night in addition to a hundred or so DVD's you can check out free of charge. The pools, adult and family are well maintained as is the BBQ areas. They also have a nice arcade (free) to use.

The front desk was probably the nicest and most accomodatig I have ever come across. Sabrina could handle anything with a smile making sure guests needs were met. Actually, everyone was like that... I can't shreds that enough.

Lastly a word of advice, if you have room in your car for dry goods such as groceries, stock up and bring them along as I learned with starving teenagers, groceries are very expensive.

We are members of Club Intrawest, but non-members can stay there too. Intrawest properties we have stayed at are always staffed with polite and helpful employees. The front desk offers concierge services to help arrange activities like spa visits or snowmobiling, whatever you are looking to do. The rooms are comfortable, most with full kitchens and a living/dining area (studios just have a kitchenette). There are two outdoor hot tubs and a swimming pool (with a covered waterslide), which is warm enough to swim in even in the middle of the winter! It is located a short walk from the Gondola at the base of Blackcomb Mountain. There is shopping close by and a shuttle that can take you to the main ski village.

If you are a Club Member and plan to go to Whistler in peak season, book early. There is a reason it is called "peak season". The important thing is that you go to Whistler. If your are not a Club member, congratulations on getting a reservation!
We just returned from a 1 week stay at Club Intrawest for a ski vacation with our ski buddies. This was our 5th time staying at Club Intrawest (4 ski trips, one summer trip). Every time we go to Whistler we are reminded why we joined the club in the first place. Whistler is an amazing ski resort. The size, organization and variety of skiing is the best in North America. The village is fantastic for shopping, people watching and relaxing after a hard day on the slopes. Club Intrawest is located only a 3-5 minute walk from the Wizard Express and a 5-8 minute walk to all the action of the village. It is close enough to everything to be able to easily enjoy all that Whistler has to offer, yet far enough away to remain peaceful at night. We love the layout of the buildings with separate family and adult environment. They do a good job trying to fill the needs of families, while providing a quiet area for adults that want to relax without the noise. Also, the onsite free arcade and movie theater are great ways to stay entertained. The rooms are big enough that you have everything you need/want without being so big they waste space. We love the in room laundry and full kitchen. These are real cost savers when staying for more than a weekend.
There is no room service or onsite restaurant, so if you are looking for a place to sit in the room and be catered to 24/7, this is not your place. You are in Whistler with tons of dining options, so there is no need for onsite food services.
We have been Club Intrawest members since 2000 and it has been the best investment we have made. The various Club locations are all top notch and smaller in scale so you don't feel overwhelmed with people. All are in locations that are destinations for outdoor activities and cater to those that want to enjoy the outdoors, but want a great place to relax at the end of your daily adventures.

Michelle from the front desk was awesome. We came in from a long flight across the country only to find out that our reservation was canceled. We showed Michelle a printed confirmation and she did her magic. She was so helpful! She even told us the dinner special across the street at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. $10 for adults and $5 all you can eat buffet for the kids. The kids buffet was easily worth $20 in any mid to large cities in North America and the $10 main dish for the adults was a steal!

We stay edfor 4 nights in a 2 bedroom suite. The room was a little dark for my liking but you can grow accustom to it. The bed was very comfortable (more comfy than the higher end Westin beds we stayed at the week before)and the washroom very nice.
Since it was March break there were lots of kids/teens in the property. Most of them spent time in the outdoor pool which was very nice but we never got to use it.

Overall, I would stay that this property again for its proximity to the lifts, great service ( I forget the French gentelmen's name at reception but he told us about the Intrawest discount\Edge cards that saved us big $$$ at the lifts) and family feel. Keep up the great work Intrawest!
