Description: Locally inspired cuisine set in a casual bistro atmosphere. Chef Nicholas Cassettari combines his classic training, top tier experience, and world travels with the best of B.C.'S bounty to create the fine flavours at Alta Bistro. Service is casual and prompt in the dining room and bar. The wine list is French focused, with the best of B.C. As well as international selections (many by the glass) with Enomatic machines dispensing fine and eclectic selections to pair with Alta's cuisine. Mixologists behind our bar craft some of Whistler's finest cocktails. The cozy bistro atmosphere is lively and welcoming. Reservations are a must.

Perfect for a quiet light dinner. Don't confuse this with it's sister restaurant downstairs.

“Casual and cozy with a focus on fresh, local ingredients”
Reviewed 24 February 2012

Alta Bistro is perfect if you want to escape the buzz of the main village and dine in a cozy setting. My friend and I sat at the bar, starting off with fresh shucked oysters and a refreshing cocktail called January Rain. They offer 2, 3 course menus priced at $29 and $39. We loved every morsel of the $29 menus and the portions were perfect, allowing us to sample a bit of everything without feeling like stuffed little piggies at the end of our meal. The kitchen is located near the bar and is partially open which means there is more activity and aroma emanating from this area. If you want to be removed from this, ask for a table in the main dining area.

“Delicious French bistro experience in Whistler.”

Sumptuous gourmet feast including an outstanding dessert at this very delightful venue. The food was exceptionally fine: delicate, creative, and exquisitely prepared. A treat for the palate. The service was professional and charming.

“Cozy Restaurant - Delicious Food!”
Reviewed 17 February 2012

I recently visited Alta Bistro for dinner with my extended family -- we were not disappointed. This is a very cozy restaurant so be sure you call a few days in advance to make a reservation in order to ensure you will get a table. The "theme" of this restaurant appears (to me and my dining partners) to be focused on sustainable food which we all appreciate (I'm not quite a tree hugger but I appreciate farm fresh and organic foods).
The service was excellent! We had clear explanations of everything we were eating. When we visited, we were offered the prix fixe menus with two price points of $29 and $39 for three courses as well as a few starters of cheese and charcuterie and some decadent desserts. The food is extremely flavorful and rich so the smaller portions are appropriate (if you want your pants to fit you at the end of the meal). There were no food items we felt were less than delicious. I had a wonderful carrot puree soup that was so good, I was tempted to lick the bowl. The main entrees were full of flavor with every bite. My one complaint: While the the fish on the main course was fresh and delicious, this particular dish had a few clams added for additional flavor, which was nice but not all the clams were open. Out of four orders of this dish, we had four unopened clams that were inedible (each dish had about a 1/2 dozen tiny clams). My feeling is, if a chef is going to put only a few wee sized clams on a plate, ensure that all are of high quality (and edible). The wine list offered some unique options as well as 1/2 glasses in addition to glasses and bottles which allowed for tasting of various wines with the meal. Overall we werre satisfied with our meals.

“Friendly, Great Atmosphere, Unpretentious, Quality Throughout”
Reviewed 13 February 2012

Had a great visit on Friday evening, the place was quite busy with happy customers and friendly staff. This place has a cool bistro feel with excellent atmosphere and is a popular place among us locals. Food was great; they have 3-course dinners for either $29 or $39 which changes regularly. The bartender working that night is quite the mixologist. Two long-time locals own the place after having worked at a few other restaurants in town. Congrats to the owners of this new addition to the Whistler dining scene that caters to customers looking for a quality experience without the pretentiousness or bland indifference you often get at other establishments in resort towns.
