“What a location!”
Reviewed 27 March 2012

Stayed at the Sundial a few weeks back and it was marvellous ... especially the location. Right at the base of the two best lifts for Whistler and Blackcomb, and at the start of the Village Stroll, it's perfect. The front Desk staff actually remembered us from a previous visit - and we're helpful with dinner reservations and dine-in suggestions. It may seem expensive when comparing other locations - but we thnk it is worth it.

Room Tip: You get to see the on-hill entertainment from the mountain view rooms. They had ski / board jumping...

We stayed for a week at March break and had a great trip. The location of the hotel couldn’t have been any better. Right at the top of the village stroll and 1 min walk to both Gondolas.

The hotel and the staff at the Sundial are just the best. The meet and greet every night where they take your skis / boards off you as you walk in the door is awesome after a tiring day on the hill. No trekking down to the basement! On the last day we didn’t leave till 6:30pm. We packed up our bags, left them in the room and the staff picked them up and stored them till we got back. The hotel was fully booked on the day we left but showers were available at the Core gym 2 minutes away. It worked out perfectly.
The hotel has a roof top Hot Tub which we took full advantage of every day to relax the well used muscles. The view from there is spectacular, especially the view of the peak to peak gondola.

A couple of things to think about if you intend to stay. Our room (802) was quite small. The boys (17 and 15) took the master (the king bed splits into 2 singles which is great) and we had the 2nd bedroom (queen room). This was very small, had no window and got very hot at night. It was also quite noisy. Secondly, the Wi-Fi was very slow and unreliable. Neither of these 2 things reduces our top rating for the hotel.

Location Location Location definitely made up for the smaller space.

Hotel next to the gondola. Makes it a short walk with ski equipment. Easy to get to Blackcomb or Whistler mountain. Staff was always cheerful and ready to help or offer advice. I stayed in the Pan Pacific Mountainside last year and would rate them as comparable. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Sundial features all the amenities of a great hotel, except a fitness center (it does have a nice hot tub, however). The views of the slopes are wonderful, and the ski valet service is better than other larger Whistler hotels that we have visited. All of the staff was extremely attentive and personable.

Room Tip: The slope-view rooms are worth the extra money.

Stayed at the Sundial from mar 2nd - 5th... group of 6 on the 3rd floor in a 2 bedrooms with a private jacuzzi. Overall, the hotel's location can't be beat... its right in front of the Gondolas and also easy access to all the stores and restaurants in the village. The room size was just adequate for the 6 of us and the heated floor in the bathroom is a great perk to have. Kitchen comes fully equipped with all the cooking wares, plates and utensils you need. Staff was always pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. To be honest, I was expecting to be blown away by the service after reading all the other reviews but I wasn't. But I think that is partly to be blamed on a 'high expectation'. We really have no complain and was always greeted with a smile or a nod at least whenever we come in through the door. The staff was always helpful with our skis or boards each time we needed it or returned back from riding. I would def stay here again.

We found this hotel on the Whistler website and based on the reviews decided to book a deluxe 1 bedroom hot tub suite (rm 705). From our room we could see both gondolas and the village only steps away. The location is absolutely the best you can get to the lifts. The room was very spacious, the heated floors in the bathroom were a pleasant surprise every time and the front desk was always very pleasant. It was nice after a day at the slopes to walk in and hand them your gear to store in lockers. We were travelling with our 9 month old son so the 7th floor was perfectly quiet, the 1 bedroom, private hot tub and huge deck allowed us to enjoy every evening as he slept. We would recommend this hotel and plan to stay again during our next visit.
