We were a group of 12 family members getting together from Canada, UK and South Africa. Age range 20 to 65. The location of the property was perfect for our group. Close to the village but also just out of the busy-ness. We stayed for a week over New Year. We had non-skiers, beginners and avid skiers. Walking to the village was an easy 10 mins, parking not expensive at $8 per day and taxis readily available as well. The chalet was perfect for a large group with ample seating in the living area for all to hang out, cozy fire, nice TV,dining table with seating for all. Kitchen is large and well equipped (although the oven was occasionally unreliable....only fault). We ended up cooking every night which we hadn't expected to do. Great hot tub and the accommodation configuration perfect for us with ample bathrooms and comfortable beds. The owners, Brett and Colin were great to deal with and could not have been more helpful. We definitely hope to be back!!!

This was a beautiful place to stay!! So clean when we arrived and the kitchen had everything you could dream of for cooking ect..There was a group of 10 of us that stayed and we all loved it!! Only a 10 minute walk to the village down a beautiful pathway!! We will definitely be coming back!!!
Together with 9 friends from UK and Germany I booked Latitude Five Zero for a week in February 2013.
We were greeted on arrival by Clare an Martin, the couple who live downstairs and look after the chalet. We were shown around the upper appartment, which was clean, warm and appeared to have everything we would expect in a self catering chalet. There were 6 double or twin rooms, as booked, with clean linen and towels, a well stocked kitchen area and comfortable lounge with a large TV.
We were shown where everything was, including the hot tub, made very welcome and given a comprehensive briefing on the village, hire shops and where to go and what to do.
Throughout our stay we were comfortable and had the holiday we had hoped for.
I would not normally write a review for any web site but on returning home one of our party found a fairly damning review of Latitude Five Zero by a previous guest and I could not believe it was the same place we stayed.
The walk to the village was no more than 12 minutes and to the ski lifts 15 minutes plus, with the use of the ski trails, it was possible to ski back to Lost Lake House, just around the corner from the Chalet.
There was adequate parking for 5 cars and the family downstairs owned only one vehicle.
The beds in all of our rooms were king size and nobody in our party found them uncomfortable.
There was a snow clearing service dailyand the path to the hot tub was kept clear by the managers and we never found our cars snowed in.
The most astonishing part of the other review was the claimed attitude of the couple downstairs. They are a charming couple who went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. True, we are all at an age when getting stoned and playing loud music late at night has lost it's appeal but we did not creep about and certainly nobody troubled us in any way.
We would happily return to Latitude Five Zero and would recommend it to friends. It's a lovely chalet with charming hosts.
This is typically a bed and breakfast. However a group of 14 of us decided to rent it out for a large birthday bash for 4 people. We were looking for a secluded place where we could have some fun. We aren't the destructive kind or the music playing kind but yeah we like to have a few drink and be a bit loud. That was the intention and we made it very clear upfront. When looking for a place we made sure that we found a stand-alone place where we wouldn't bother others. We thought that was what Latitude was, and the website and all makes it feel this way as well.
What a mess. First off, what it doesn't state is that there are people who watch over the place that live in the basement of this house-thing. Don't you think that is a bit of info you might want to put up on the website? That there is a family, with children, that live downstairs? I mean that kind of would have been a deal breaker IF WE HAD KNOWN. Ok, so when we get there we tell these people that we were not aware that people would be living under us. THESE PEOPLE ARE RUDE. They don't own the property and they don't seem like they are on good terms with the owners either. They told us off and said that if we weren't loud enough to bother the neighbors, we would be find. Oh, another thing, on the website it states that there PLENTY of parking for many cars. That is a lie. Why? Because those people who live downstairs take up 3 of the 4-5 parking spots. Yeah, so don't count on it. I mean already this is some shady business. Save yourself some trouble.
Ok. So we get up to the place. It's ALRIGHT. Roomy, yes. Well kept? No. The TV turns on. The volume does not. The websites states that you can plug your ipod in and listen to music and all this stuff. Oh really? But the stereo doesn't work! No TV. The living room is large but dim at nights since there are only two small and dim lights. The place is downright cold. The heater wasn't even on when we arrived (a small gesture but would have been thoughtful) and we had to go out behind the house to get wood. Oh remember on the website where it states that you can enjoy the hot tub in the back after a long day on the slopes? Um, think again. They barely barely barely shoveled the outside. I mean just the walkway from the cars to the door was treacherousness. Not to even start on the path to the wood or the hot tub. They didn't even bother to shovel. It's dangerous to begin with and just plain not considerate. The kitchen is nice, but if you have been to other cabins before, this one is at it's bare minimum. Bring your own coffee, paper towels etc.
The beds are very uncomfortable. They all dip dip dip deeeeeep in the middle of the beds. And all of those king beds it mentions on the website. Well, that is a lie. They really are just two twins pushed together. Which to be honest, I am not picky, that would have been cool if the beds didn't dip so hard. One of the beds literally looked like a W from the side. It was just uncomfortable period.
The bathrooms were alright.
Anyways, later on on the first night, it's late we are playing games in the living room (which is right above the people downstairs' bedroom ;) ) and we are just having a good time. We try to keep quiet but I will admit that at one point something got really exciting and we got a bit loud in woo-ing and yeah-ing. Oh Boy. The guy downstairs comes up and knocks on our door and starts throwing threats. Basically be quiet or we kick you out. I mean I understand that you have been woken but honestly, we were lied to. We thought we had the whole place to ourselves. Do you have to have the you-owe-me-a-million-dollars attitude? Could you not have had a somewhat better attitude? A lets-try-to-solve-this-problem attitude? Nope! So yeah, the party is over. We all head to bed.
Another run in with the people downstairs: So we were warned that one of the rooms "locks on it's own", we left the key in the room in case the room gets locked. Does anyone see the issue here? Hmm? Hmm? Umm, if the door locks, what good is the key INSIDE the room. So yeah, the room locks. We go down to the people downstairs and lo-and-behold, here is that you-owe-me-money attitude. This lady is so rude, she basically makes it seem like it's our fault and that there is nothing she can do. The key in the room is the only key. I can't even..... I mean my blood boils just thinking about this.... After a while to other people go down and confront here to see if she has another key. Long story short, she does have a key and she comes up to unlock the door.
I mean after all of this, we are all pretty afraid of this business. The lies, the cover-ups, the service and the way we were treated. It was lies and threats throughout. When we left we were warned that if we didn't take out all of the trash we would be charged a few hundred dollars "as stated in the contract you signed". So yeah, after that everyone in the house spends hours just cleaning the whole place, making beds, taking out garbage, putting couch pillows neatly back on the couches. I mean I don't even make my own bed, and here I am making there beds just cause we are so afraid of what they may do.
Just save yourself the trouble. Don't come here. You don't need this when you are on a vacation.
Side note: The lady downstairs seems to be running a day care sort of thing downstairs as well. Throughout the day there were many visitors who came with children, or left with children. Whenever we went down to talk to them, we would see many (5-7) children in the living room playing or watching TV. We were there for 3 nights so it's hard to believe that they had friends over ever single day and with that high of a children to adult ratio.
Bottom Line: If you don't want trouble don't come here. I mean the price isn't even that cheap anyways. You can find other places with this price and probably better condition. Also, although it is close to the Village (walking distance), it's still a 30 minute hike. You are better off driving anyway. Once you get to any of the parking lots, the walk is only 10 minutes. Wouldn't you rather walk only 10 minutes after a long day on the slopes? IT'S NOT WORTH IT HERE.
We had a fantastic time staying at latitude. We had a group of 14 and there was plenty of space for all! There is a very large dining area and living room- there were even fresh flowers to greet us. The place has all the amenities you could think of (wifi, hot tub, stereo hookup). He village is a short and beautiful walk away. We will be back to stay again.
This is typically a bed and breakfast place, but we rented the whole facility so I am reviewing it as such. The owners are very nice and helpful. The place is quite spacious and backs up to the mountain. We did have problems with some kitchen appliances, but as a B&B, you wouldn't have those issues. The problems that could be fixed immediately were, and the other one that couldn't be fixed while we were there was not that big of a problem. The hot tub was great. We drove into the village to do some things, but were within walking distance from one of the bike rentals. HIking is all over the place. The large table in the dining room and lots of living room couches, made it enjoyable for all of us to visit. We would definitely return again.
