As an early pioneer of farm to table dining, Executive Chef James Walt's seasonally focused menus celebrate the excellence of locally sourced ingredients. Walt's innovative and skillfully executed dishes-from savoury starters through delicious desserts-deliver intelligent compositions and unforgettable flavours. Centrally located in the main square of the village, Araxi boasts a contemporary dining room coloured in warm earth tones - and a sleek Oyster Bar that exudes the passion and craftsmanship that lie at the heart of the restaurant. Service was impeccable. atmosphere is refined.
Food was presented well; generally delicate, refined, and less than intense flavors.

e.g. had pork tenderloin wrapped in prosciutto. tenderloin was indeed extremely tender but prosciutto slice was so thin, really couldn't taste it. (IMHO, wrapping in pancetta would have been more flavorful).

as "the best restaurant in Whistler", could find better value elsewhere.

My husband and I visited here after reading all the rave reviews on Trip Advisor and on the whole we weren’t disappointed. The greeting was warm and friendly and although we arrived early we were seated right away. The table was next to a window but was not cold at all. Our waiter was really friendly and very knowledgable.
I had the beef tartare to start which was very good but was over spiced, something like that can be very flavoursome and delicate and it just lost a bit of that. We both had the seafood special for a main, the fish was cooked beautifully, cannot felt it at all but our razor clam was still full of grit, to the point where we both could cut the sections out, it was just badly prepared. However the wine we had, a local Pinot Gris was stunning and really reasonably priced. Overall I’d happily go back but might steer away from anything with razor clams in.

Hi Charlotte,

It’s regrettable to hear that the beef tartare and razor clam dishes fell short of the full Araxi experience. We will be sure to share your comments with our kitchen team to correct any inconsistencies in our preparations.

We thank you for taking a moment to reach out to us.

Kind regards,

We enjoy coming to ARAXI several times during the winter season for fondue and their oysters special which they offer daily 15.00-17.00.
Oysters are always excellent.
Fondue not as tasty as in previous seasons.
Cheese is a bit too thin and taste rather bland.
The cheese they used to use obviously changed and lacks taste and thickness.
Otherwise service good as usual.
Please go back to the old cheese you were using...

We were disappointed in the oysters, but we are not really oyster people - they were all a bit briny to us. Our entrees were excellent - we split two entrees and the kitchen plated them beautifully for us. Service was a bit slow between courses, but our entrees were delicious. ALL the wines are really expensive - even the ones by the glass. I enjoyed our dinner - just wasn't blown away by it.

We went looking for a romantic nice dinner and we found it. The food was very good (not over the top) but good. Great Oysters and the service was exceptional. I strongly recommend it.
