Indian Masala Bistro
Ranked #79 of 201 Restaurants in Whistler
Price range: US$11 - US$30
Description: An elite Indian fine dining restaurant located within Hilton Hotel in the heart of whistler and base of Whistler Gondola. My Philosophy with food is that every Indian food is made delicious with the addition of herbs and spices during preparation. India is well known as land of spices and Yogis. Every spice has its Own medicinal value which is highly beneficial for this modern living and cooking. We use these spices to enhance the flavors of food as well as for a healthy living. We also use the black Himalayan salt which is unpolluted, unrefined and mineral rich. These foods are complemented with the right wine pairing and it enhances the wine and the food. Some of the lighter wines like a Sauvignon Blanc would be enhanced with lighter appetizers and basic food.

...and that was even after they tried to fob off someone else's more expensive bill on us! The massive con is that every main comes with rice & naan, plus a dessert. Fine in itself, except it's not unusual for two people to share a rice & naan. Then, there are no sides, so if you want additional vegetables, you pay a moderate reduction on the price of an extortionate, all-inclusive main. Finally, who wants to be forced to eat dessert, just because they had to pay for it? Ultimately, a meal for two, with a single drink each, cost more than double what I'd expect to pay for an extravagant Indian feast back home. Service was average, with one drinks request completely ignored. Only the food saved it from a one star review.

This is a lovely restaurant which overlooks the village main street. The service is excellent, the wine list is good, and I think they have the best lamb curry I have ever had. It was a treat to get out of the bustling main stream and enjoy a beautifully prepared and served meal in a wonderful atmosphere.

Good value, great selection and friendly service. The curry was delicious, great flavour and spice level to suit every taste.

If you genuinely like a good curry you will not go wrong!

Very tasty food, very helpful with food allergy. The main meal comes with rice and nan bread, they gave me dairy free alternatives. Vegetable samosa was light and delicious & potato and cauliflower curry very tasty along with accompanying sides, would return again. Our server was very helpful and friendly.

We enjoyed a lovely meal here. Waiting staff were helpful and attentive, and our children enjoyed the food on offer from the kids menu (which included butter chicken which went down very well). I read other reviews which mentioned poor service and an inability to choose a la carte - we did not find this to be the case at all. We’re pretty fussy with our Indian food back home, and this did not disappoint. They even (strangely had French Fries available as a side, much to our children’s delight.
