The trip started in Winnipeg with our guide "Angel" for a couple of nights then we spent 4 nights in Churchill with the Tundra Buggy Team viewing the Northern Lights, going dog sledding (fantastic) and snow shoeing. It was very cold in the minus 0 - 40 degree area most of the time we were in Churchill. The sun was shining during the day and we had the perfect conditions for viewing the "Lights" in the evenings. Everyone we interacted with was knowledgeable and friendly and very accommodating to "city slickers." Loved the trip from start to finish. Angel took such good care of all of us "old gizzards!"

We had a wonderful Frontiers North tour...with an excellent guide... good accommodations (well, as good as it gets in Churchill)..and a good group of travelers. And to top it all off, an amazing aurora show in the skies every night, thanks in lpart to a spurt of solar flares a few days before we arrived in town. It was a fabulous trip.

I would give this trip 10 stars if I could. I took the conservation trip at the end of October and enjoyed every minute. Seeing polar bears was a bucket list item for me and this trip did not disappoint.

The hotel in Winnipeg was a very short walk from airport and quite comfortable. We had a meeting with our guide the first evening so we knew what to expect. Our group of 39 was broken into two groups so there were only 19 of us on the Tundra Buggy. Our charter flight up to Churchill was great. We stayed one night in Churchill which gave us plenty of time to explore the town and do some shopping.

We saw our first polar bear shortly after leaving town to head to the buggy dock. We saw three bears before we got to the Buggy Lodge! The Lodge was very cozy with comfortable bunk beds (everyone had their own window which was great) and enough storage space for all the winter gear. The food was amazing and the staff took great care of us.

We saw so many bears and had a huge number of really good photo ops - not just bears way off in the distance. We saw a mom and cub of the year, a mom with a yearling cub, males sparring, bears sleeping, bears playing etc. Polar bears are very curious so we had lots of bear close up time as well. We were very fortunate the ice froze after we left so we could see these majestic animals. We also saw red foxes, arctic foxes, and ptarmigan.

The Tundra Buggy was great. We stayed nice and warm; we often had the windows down for taking pictures, but the Buggy quickly warmed up again. The viewing platform at the back of the buggy was great because you could take pictures underneath if a bear was under the platform.

Having the Polar Bears International staff with us made the trip even better because it gave us the chance to really learn about polar bears and what we can do to help save their environment. Dave, our guide, and Jim, our buggy driver, were superb - very knowledgeable with lots of experience and stories.

The trip was incredible and I hope to do it again one day.

Hi BardAdmirer,

Sorry for this delayed response but wow, what an amazing trip!

This sounds like an unbelievable time at the Lodge and we're happy to hear your trip was jam packed with bears, all kinds of wildlife and lots of info from PBI, Jim and Dave.

Conservation Journey is such a special tour, we look forward to welcoming you back to Churchill again.

Kindest Regards,

Frontiers North

We had an exceptional leader, Jessica. We had knowledgeable and well established professional photgrapher, Michelle. We had a fantastic tundra buggy driver, Kevin. Location of our remote hotel was unique and we counted on seeing and photograph polar bears without any interruption from any other visitors to Churchill. We were alowed to stay in the national park. Food was faboulous and so much of it. We had wifi connection which failed only once but in this very remote area my connection was better than what I had in Winnipeg. Unfortunately for us Hudson Bay froze earlier this year amd all bears already migrated. What a shame.
I feel bad for those who came with multiple cameras, dozens of lenses and hope to take exceptional shots of bears. However, those who took a helicopter flight were able to see and photograph bears. Some photos were fantastic.

Were we dissapointed? Sure but this is were Frontiers North surprised us with offering a free trip, any trip of our choice to see polar bears with no expiration date or a refund of $4,500. Thank you Frontiers North. I will be coming back but earleier in November.
I also want to thank you all those who were involved in setting up and running this unique camp. Not only chef, kitchen staff, lady who kept our showers clean, someone who changed a flat trire on our buggy, those who climbed a tower in wind and cold to connext us to wifi and many other pople starting with those in Winnipeg office.
