“Great place for a long term stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 January 2012

I have been staying at the Radisson in downtown Winnipeg for a week and I can say that the hotel is clean, well laid out, friendly and very convienent to downtown.
The MTS Centre is a beautiful facility down the street and very easy access from the hotel, even in -30 C weather!
The restaurant has very good food for a hotel with a good selection and very well prepared. The suites are large and comfortable with plently of work room to spread out projects. The bed is as comfortable as any I have had in any hotel and the maid service very effiecent. Good security throughout and a Starbucks in the lobby. I would recommend the hotel as a great downtown experience in Winnipeg.

Check in was awkward, finally received all of the pass cards for parking, elevator, and room. The Parkade's directions weren't visible, so we ended up carrying luggage through the parkade and down two flights of stairs just so that a maintenance worker could let us in through a side door.
The room was updated but tiny. 2 twin beds, that claim to be fancy because you can increase the softness or hardness by pushing a button. If you've ever gone camping and slept on a blow up mattress you'll realize it's not that fancy. The TV didn't work, so we had to have it exchanged.
After the first night... The walls are paper thin, could hear the young street punks partying all night from down the hallway, doors slamming shook the whole room. You'd think being twenty some stories up that traffic noises wouldn't affect you. Downtown must have had a riot or burnt down because the sirens were going all night.
The morning came early since there aren't any blinds or drapes, only a thin piece of white transparent cloth.
The only upside was that it's across the street for The MTS Center... Followed by some rehab centers I'm sure.

Check in was easy and pleasant
Elevators are extremely slow and you wait to up and a long time to go down. I actually skipped breakfast in the hotel because I wasn't prepared for the elevator experience to go down to breakfast (on the 12th floor) and back to my room before checking out. This first 8 floors or so are parking so walking up and down from the 25th floor was not a great option.
Room was likely a good size however the furniture is too large for the space and so it was crowded.
Wi Fi there but you had to move furniture to get to a plug in
Beds are the sleep number units which I find hard to get in the right setting
Convenient to walk just about anywhere downtown.

I appreciated the proximity to things in the downtown, especially the MTS Centre. My room was clean and the staff was good.

The restaurant is good and the bar (including the owner/ bar tender) was excellent. We had a great time and were well served.

The free wireless was very slow.

I will return.

I spent two nights at the Radisson in late November. The room had been recently renovated and was very pleasant. The room was very clean, but there were some housekeeping issues (no facecloths in the bathroom the first night; greasy handprints on the window that I had to clean off; a cigarette package sitting in the garbage can when I arrived that was not removed throughout the stay). Radisson uses the "sleep number" system on their beds. This is the second Radisson I've stayed in recently where the sleep number control did not function properly. This is a gimmick that Radisson should give up in favour of ordinary good-quality mattresses.
On the plus side the rooms in this hotel are above the parking levels and have great views of Winnipeg. The room and bathroom were spacious. The hotel location is excellent for events at the MTS Centre and for meetings downtown. The hotel has taken extensive measures to ensure high security for guests, including security on the main entries and the elevator area. Staff are pleasant and welcoming. Room rates are reasonable. This is a good choice in downtown Winnipeg for business or pleasure.

In order to take advantage of a Club Carlson (Radisson's loyalty program) promotion, we checked into the Radisson Winnipeg on a Friday night for our 'staycation'. We booked an oversized corner king on the 25th floor facing South. The room was great and a nice long view. Unfortunately we had to change rooms as when I sat on the edge of the bed to put my tights on it squeeked so much you could never have slept a wink in it. I called down and they were able to give us the same Southern view with a comp upgrade to the Club Floor. It was a weekend so no hors doevres and free breakfast but a lovely one bedroom suite. We will definately go back and stay on a weeknight!

The room package we booked was the room and dinner for $208.00 and if you want the suite on the Club Floor I think its $238.00. This is a wonderful deal as dinner is ANY appetizer, ANY dinner and ANY desert for two guests! To put this in perspective our appies were about $14., dinner entrees $38. and deserts $7. The restaurant was quiet, the service was great and the view (now North over Portage was pretty at night!) The only unfortunate thing is that they have a VLT lounge and a small bar open (separated by a wall) to the restaurant. We had been given a lovely table by the window and a fireplace but you could hear the chatter from that area, although the VLTs are quiet. They need to change this I think.

Breakfast the next morning in the restaurant was delicious! Eggs benedict crepes (nouveau style with toppings stacked above the thin folded crepes) and egg sandwich.

We drove home feeling like we had been away! So relaxed!

p.s. The suite has a table for 4, small fridge, microwave, dishes, wine glasses, coffees and teas. It has a two to three seater sofa and two large leather chairs which we turned to face out the window and have our cocktails in the evening and coffee the next morning. It has a large wall hung tv. Very calm neutral colored space!

Room Tip: I liked facing South!
