The Blue on Water hotel is a boutique, above a restaurant/bar. It is right on Water Street right in the heart of the action - just one block from George St. Rooms are large (couch and sitting area) and we had a huge bathroom with a full soaker tub and a walk in shower.

If your window fronts on Water Street, it does get a bit noisy with the traffic but overall it's not an issue.

Love the location and rooms.

We stayed in both the Gryphon Loft and the hotel. The style is lovely and fun. I found the service to be excellent with great communication from the managers about our upcoming stay and checking on us while we were off site at the loft. Both locations are wonderful and my family loved our stays here.

Room Tip: room 301 or the loft!

The room was gorgeous, but you had to enter through a bar. The view out the window was of the ventilator for the kitchen. They never told us that the only parking cost $25 per night. Restaurant was overpriced. Ate 1st night in bar. Poutin was so salty it was inedible. Had reservations for 4 nights, checked out after only 1.

Spent 6 nights at Blue on Water. I can't say enough things about this place. Fabulous newly renovated, huge room with a spa like bathroom, Keurig coffee maker, fridge, couch and coffee table and the comfiest beds with the best linens and pillows making it hard to get up in the morning. But they also have the best food, especially brunch downstairs in the restaurant so didn't want to sleep in too late. The bartender Greg, who checked us in to our rooms and then introduced us to our first ever "Iceberg Beer" was so helpful and friendly and made us feel right at home. Enjoyed the bar and meeting locals in the bar and the lobster rolls are absolutely the best. We wish we had tried more things in the restaurant as it seemed to be very popular in the evenings, but we will definitely be back. Thanks to all the staff - you were all fabulous !

Arriving in the evening to find our booked hotel over booked, (something we understand now often happens in summer conference season), By accident we rang this hotel as it was a small boutique we were delighted to get a last minute cancellation.
This hotels decor is modern edge with at times an industrial look, and other corners a table with flowers and books. I believe only nine enormous rooms with equally large bathrooms, floor to ceiling windows. We loved all these features, but, then we had the enjoyment of the young super efficient staff, always helpful and delivered with a huge smile. At one side of the foyer is a bar with t.v (which had patrons enthralled with the 2016 world cup, while eating snacks. The other side is a full dining room, where we ate, delicious food. We did later get into our booked hotel but this was more fun and in a slightly more central location St. John's is a small city.

Room Tip: All rooms would be quite but overlooking the street in the floor to ceiling windows
