We looked specifically for accommodation with kitchen/kitchenette for 4 nights in Yellowknife in the 3rd week of June. Yellowknife is a big city in the vicinity but still is quite limited in terms of renting a whole apartment / Airbnb let alone hotels with such an option.

We found Stanton Hotels have suites with a full kitchen. The other options we had did not look anywhere close to what Staton hotel offers, so we booked it and we were happy about our decision. The staff downplay the feature and call it a kitchenette, but our unit had 2 basin-sinks, dishwasher, 4-heating-unit stove and a real fan that actually vents the air out of the unit, and counter that's accessible from the living room area, and also full-size washer and dryer in the bathroom.

Staff was very nice and friendly. Housekeeping can be minimal (but the other side of it is the hotel being environmentally responsible), some dings on the furniture, but definitely clean, comfortable, and worth the all money if you are a somewhat "independent" traveler and not looking to be pampered with luxury.

Another advantage of this hotel is the location suited for the "home-like" stay. Big grocery stores Independent and Walmart are literally across the street. You can get anything you need very conveniently. Restaurant options might be a bit limited compared to other hotels in the downtown area, but we cooked half the meals during the stay and had really great meals at Sam's Monkee Tree Pub/ Stakes across the corner from the hotel. The Airport is closer as well.

Other writers also wrote the rooms can be hot. That was true for our stay as well. However, it was all manageable with the fan provided in the closet and keeping the windows open. It was better that way with the fresh cool air flowing into the room.

One thing we didn't have much experience during our stay is the noise coming through the door connected to the neighboring suites. It definitely passes noises very easily and your experience might be greatly affected depending on your neighbor. I don't know if all the units have a similar layout, but ours had the bedroom away from the living room where the connecting door is and it was helpful. If the hotel offers rooms without a connecting door, worth requesting that option.

Room tip: A room without a door connecting to the neighboring unit

I am very pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Stanton Suites Hotel Yellowknife, my associates and I always enjoy getting a great response which lets us know how well we are doing.

Are kitchen units (suites) are quite sought after by the visitors that know they are here and your description is dead on. I was wondering if you also made use of the in-suite laundry which many travelers find most convenient.

Our associates try very hard to make sure you have a very enjoyable stay and everything is done so that you and all of our guests can have a great stay.

Should you happen to find your way to us again in the future we hope to be your choice while in Yellowknife.

Ps.
We do have suites without the adjoining door, also the in-suite laundry may allow you to pack lighter than normal.

Warm Regards
Darin Ryden, General Manager

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable, clean, and quiet. Within walking distance of numerous amenities. It's truly amazing how tough walking anywhere is at temperatures below -20.

My husband and I booked a trip for Valentine’s Day weekend to see the Auroras and stayed at Stanton Suites. The staff are amazing and even allowed us to have a 4pm check out at no extra charge since we had a late departure. The rooms were comfortable and the hotel provides taxi vouchers to and from the airport. The hotel is located a short taxi ride away from downtown. There are several places to eat within walking distance and if you are on a budget there is a grocery store across the street.

Was put in the Quality Inn and my car barely started do to extreme cold and no plug ins for cars. Car barely started in morning. Switched here and front staff were amazing with my needs. Have me a spot with a plug (there were many) and now I’m not afraid of rental car not starting before work. Something I didn’t even think about until having to deal with it here.

Full laundry, kitchen, living room and bedroom. Hotel is clean and in a good location. Walmart, grocery store and Tim Hortons all within 2 minutes drive. Oh and close to Marks Wearhouse to go buy good warm gloves so your fingers don’t fall off in -49C weather. Ahem.

I have stayed at this hotel many times and it has improved over recent years. If you do not need to be right downtown Yellowknife it is a good place to stay with groceries and Walmart really handy and not far from the airport. BUT - if you need entertainment during your stay - the WiFi sucks and the TV is marginal. There are many good restaurants in walking distance ( in summer anyway) and even in winter but stay out as long as you can because room entertainment is awful. If you have to have an elevator maybe not as they have two but one is always not working and on rare occasions both are down!

Room tip: Rooms facing west have great views but some are noisy if near the road

Thank you Bill for the great comments, and happy that you were able to point out some very good key points to our location.

I would like to touch on the guest Wi-Fi that you point out was sub par during your visit. Our guest Wi-Fi is getting an overhaul and we hope the project will be completed prior to your next stay with us. It has been along time coming and I wish I could provide the exact completion date.

Hope to see you again.
