We entered Cape Breton National Park at the Cheticamp entrance with plans to walk the Skyline Trail. The information center at the entrance of the park has a wonderful map available that lists all of the many hikes in the park along with their length and level of difficulty.
Approximately six-miles long, the Skyline Trail is very gentle with beautiful views. It starts in woodland on a path lined with ferns that had turned a beautiful copper color. Many of the walkers we passed had seen moose up close but unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) we did not see any. After walking a couple of miles, you come to the skyline trail which is a boardwalk along the ocean, absolutely breathtaking with many spots for photos and views of the rocky coast. The Skyline Trail is very popular but I highly recommend it.
