simply amazing! Easy hike/walk and quite rewarding once you reach the end. You get an amazing view of the coastal drive on one side and the ocean on the other. Cape Breton is a must!

Excellent trail...a must do. Moderate but leave a good 3 hours! Views spectacular and moose sightings very likely. Bring a camera!

We walked the trail at the beginning of November.

They were expanding the parking lot to deal with summer demand. Judging from the size of the new parking lot, this must be a very, very crowded trail at peak season!

Most of the trail is pretty unremarkable. Eventually, it opens out to the point and has steps down to a lookout that offers remarkable views.

We didn't see any wildlife apart from a pair of very plump rabbits.

If the parking lot is anything to go by, this must be a very, very busy place in the summer.

We entered Cape Breton National Park at the Cheticamp entrance with plans to walk the Skyline Trail. The information center at the entrance of the park has a wonderful map available that lists all of the many hikes in the park along with their length and level of difficulty.
Approximately six-miles long, the Skyline Trail is very gentle with beautiful views. It starts in woodland on a path lined with ferns that had turned a beautiful copper color. Many of the walkers we passed had seen moose up close but unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) we did not see any. After walking a couple of miles, you come to the skyline trail which is a boardwalk along the ocean, absolutely breathtaking with many spots for photos and views of the rocky coast. The Skyline Trail is very popular but I highly recommend it.

Two options here, walk in to the lookout point and walk back or walk the full loop. We walked the full loop, around 9km. It's a pretty easy trail in terms of terrain. We were told at the visitor info booth the hike the trail counterclockwise for better views and we did that and liked it. The actual look out point is stunning!! Weather was clear for us but apparently not worth it if it's foggy as it was the prior day. We hoped to see a moose but no such luck :(
