OMG!

Review of Commons Inn
1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 24, 2018via mobile
At $119 plus taxes this is the most expensive place to stay in Halifax. That is when you consider what you get for your coin. Disgustingly dirty, all of the room, bathroom, towels (I’d call them bad dish towels) mold on the shower curtain which was Half attached to the hooks, the free parking is a Joke and we didn’t even venture to the “basement” for the free breakfast. Oh yes, you’ll be created with a large can at the entrance with water and
Cigarette butts in it. Nasty 🤢
If this place comes up on your search ...... RUN

Charged my card for an advanced booking and refused to reverse the charge when I complained the transaction was made without my explicit permission. Transaction occurred during night hours. I complained first thing in AM when I found it had happened. Any reputable business would have reversed a bad faith transaction such as this one. They ignored my requests to reverse the transaction. Never stayed here and never would based upon this terrible experience. Complete cash grab for an empty room. Ugly.

This is a cheap hotel. Good location for what is a groovy, up-coming neighbourhood. Walkable from the waterfront for 2 sixty+ tourists in about 25 minutes. Rooms are tired, stairs somewhat grubby, breakfast limited. Staff warm, friendly, helpful and effective. Adequate parking for all rooms. Value for money in context, and given 3 stars instead of 2 due to the attitude and engagement of the staff which was unusually positive. Much, much cheaper than the fancy stuff downtown or Waterfront, but with obvious limitations.

Clean and affordable. Very centrally located. I only stayed for an afternoon but it was perfect for the occasion :) I can't speak to the breakfast but if you're looking for something right on the peninsula for a short stay I'd recommend it.

We didn't get the room we requested. When my husband went to complain, they gave us a room worse then we had(second floor)
Our new room was in the basement. It was so creepy. The hallway looked like from a horror movie. The room smelled.Tiles we're broken & the fridge wasn't cleaned properly. The heater was also rusted. The door locks we're broken. The rest of the stuff was dusty. Was only there for one night(thank goodness). I didn't even bother getting breakfast. I wanted to get out of there asap. Will never stay there again. I don't recommend it

This small inn is located at a quiet block, the painting in front door is interesting, staffs are friendly. Room is small & lovely, but there is no desk for laptop. Breakfast is simple & enough for us. One can walk to downtown or Citadel Hill Historical Site, Sorbey’s supermarket is about 15 minutes on foot too. Around inn there is limited option for bar or restaurant (a Korean restaurant is attached), so if you would like to have a good meal, you have to go downtown. Bus stop is only a short walk distance, & one can take bus to VIA railway station.
