Four of us booked the Peggy's cove/Halifax tour. Our driver was at the cruise port and ready when we got off the ship. He is very knowledgeable of the area and flexible when we had an unexpected lunch stop. Highly recommended!
Norman met the four of us at the cruise port. On the way to Peggy's Cove, Norman made a number of stops to enable us taking photos of beautiful fall foliage. At Acadian Maple Products, we learned how to collect maple syrup. It was surprisingly simple. Just insert a tube into a sugar maple tree and collect the syrup. We also made a stop at a small private Peggy's Cove Museum. The owner is an author as well as a photographer. The exhibits were all personal belongings of the owner's grandparents and great grandparents. Lastly we spent some time a Peggy's Cove. We thanked Norman for such a wonderful tour.
I had booked our own private tour excursion through Halifax Tour Guys based on great reviews and wasn't disappointed. With our small group we were able to go where we wanted and even extended our time because we were enjoying our experience so much and Terry (our most excellent driver) was happy to stop where ever we wanted: an interesting antique shop, a picture-worthy view, a delicious meal. We loved going at our own pace and enjoying the company of our own small group of friends. We did the coastline tour, which took us far from the big tour buses and crowds that flock to Peggy's Cove (which we saw but chose not to linger--too crowded and touristy)
We booked Tours 1 and 2 for 6 people from Halifax Tour Guys. Al was waiting for us as we excited the cruise ship terminal even though our ship arrived in port later than it was supposed to. We toured Halifax, the Citidel and many parts near the port. We stopped at a sugar shack where we sampled tasty treats and had time to shop. The visit to the cemetery where many Titanic passengers were buried was special and historical. Our last stop was Peggy's Cove which was great. Al explained the lobster industry and we had time to walk out to the lighthouse and climb on the rocks. All in all it was a wonderful day and much better than any ship's excursion.
We spent a wonderful day in Halifax, thanks to Terry of Halifax Tour Guys. We were there for a few hours and had failed to book a tour through our cruise line, which turned out to be a blessing. We liked Terry immediately and felt completely comfortable with him; he could not have been more accommodating with us (one of our group of four had a walker and he easily arranged our seating to make room for it). At the outset, we told him that we wanted a four hour tour of the area and he quickly agreed to adjust the five hour tour to four, but we soon realized that we were enjoying the day so much that we asked him to add as much time as he could. We walked through the Halifax City Park, went to Peggy’s Cove, the Titanic cemetery, and had a delicious lunch. He definitely made our few hours in Halifax a memorable experience and I could not recommend him more highly.
We had a Great! day in Halifax and Peggy's Cove. Our driver, Lem picked us up at the port when our ship docked. We had a marvelous tour of Halifax. Lem was a great guide. We learned a lot of the history in town, saw beautiful homes, visited the Titanic Cemetery and learned a lot about its passengers. We stopped at a small family style café for lunch then on to "Acadia Maple" and then Peggy;s Cove. Saw beautiful scenery. Lem was very willing let us out for pictures any time. My husband is wheelchair bound and not able to get on & off the tour buses. He was able to transfer to the van. Lem was very helpful and his knowledge and joy of showing his home to visitors was very evident. This was definitely the best choice for us to see Nova Scotia. Would highly recommend this company to anyone!! Very much worth the opportunity. Thank you Lem.
