We had limited time to sight see during a business trip this weekend. Prince George Hotel made arrangements for us after another tour operator fell through. Mel from Open Top Private Tour took us to Peggy's Cove, Mahoney Bay, and Lunenburg, and the cemetery where the victims of the Titantic lay to rest. We had lunch and shopped in the towns. The jeep is a great way way to see NS since the back roads are not assessible to a large bus. We had a great time ! Mel is hospitable, humourous, and flexible. Give them a call when you are looking for a whirl wind tour in NS in a day. I would book a tour with Mel the next time I visit NS.

I never actually used them for a your but we bumped into them a few times. Each time they gave a great place to go and see. I would suggest using them if you are new to the area and want a great local experience on what to enjoy in Nova Scotia.

My wife and I and two kids were visiting Halifax for the day when we were blessed by running into Karl from Open Top Tours. Without pushing us at all, he only asked if he could help us, as we were walking on the boardwalk looking for the local visitor center. He pointed us in the right direction then just questioned us as to what we were looking to do. In the process of talking with him, we ended up building a five hour tour during which he drove us to some spectatcular coast fishing villages, including Peggy's Cove, along beautifully fall colored roads. The jeep he toured us in was clean, had terrific visability, and provided us with wonderful fresh air. This was the absolute perfect closure to our cruise. Karl provided just the right amount of information about the areas we visited and traveled past, and gave us whatever time we wanted without ever making us feel like we had to move on. If you are visiting Halifax on a cruise, we highly suggest you booking with Karl before arriving, or when leaving the ship, look for his jeeps which will probably be parked a short walk away from the cruise terminal. For the same price, or in some cases much cheaper than what the bus tours or taxi cab drivers were requesting, please look into hiring Karl or one of his staff for a great day outside of the city.
