Yes, expensive, service still sparse, but the food variety is the best in Guelph. Yes, better than Diwa ...

Had the buffet and the number of items was outstanding. BUT, yes again, the food servings were cold, but they will heat individual portions for you should you ask.

Maybe they can try better timing on refills? Or like most Guelph-ies, come early.

Having just moved to Guelph in July I was looking for a good Indian restaurant and Spice Roots was rated very highly so I tried it. Usually when you order butter chicken or an other entre at an Indian restaurant you get the choice of either rice or naan included. Spice Roots offers neither. (and was told so by a very snappy employee on the phone)

I ordered the butter chicken, naan, and gulab jamun. The serving size was generous but the sauce tasted like Campbells tomato soup with Indian spice. The naan was tough and not nice. The gulab jamun was cold (typically served warm) and tasted like they were soaking in the sauce a week. (typically fluffy and light in the syrup)

I love Indian food and order fairly regularly but will never order from them again even though they are close by.

Every dish we have tried has been of superior quality - from Tika Masala to Tandoori to Vindaloo the naan are wonderful and the owner is friendly and the wait staff of great assistance. You can even watch them prepare some of the dishes in the tandoori oven.

Had lunch with the family. Excellent flavours. All the dishes were delicious. They make their yogurt themselves.

We have ordered take out from here since it opened. Our last visit, we decided to sit in and for a table on the patio. The food was delicious as always and service was great. My husband enjoys my home made Indian but he loves this place. It tastes authentic and fresh.
We love the following dishes:
Fish and chicken pakoras, Tandoori chicken, Tandoori fish, Amratsari Tikka, Chicken Tikka Masala, Aloo Gobi. The naan is amazing.
