“Incredibly noisy”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 October 2011

I write this at 3.30 am. I am certainly not getting much sleep. As some other reviewers pointed out it is right by the train tracks. And this is not a morning commuter line or an occasional goods train this is the main line for Canada!

Did I mention every train blows its whistle? When I say whistle don't think romantic wail from far away, think of being right next to a fog horn. This is then followed by a loud rumble for a minute or two.

There has not been one for a while now - maybe they have stopped. I should be so lucky.

So, to sum up, if you are deaf it is fine, otherwise avoid it. The view of the lake was fine, the bathroom was very good and the staff friendly. Badly fitted office blinds instead of curtains / drapes let in a lot of light. On the plus side it's ideally situated for a 24 hour Tim Hortons which I am about to visit!

Guy cursing and renovating room next door until 11pm. Garbage outside. Dirty carpets. Mildew. Located next to train tracks... Completely terrible.

Very convenient location for me as it was the closest place to the plant i was working at for a few days. I was pretty impressed by the room that had a queen bed with an outstanding washroom. This room looked like your standard 3-star hotel room and offered the same amenities but came with a much more affordable price. Very nicely updated, plenty of pillows, and coffee in the room was very convenient for the early mornings. The computer in the lobby for guest use was also a nice feature.

This hotel was a great stop on our way to Toronto. No hurdles no problems whatsoever. We checked in late and checked out early the next morning. Sleeping quality and room cleaness exceeded our expectations. The staff very friendly.

Kingston was a great place to meet family friends. Fortunately, the hotel they booked us was the best fit to complement our stay in kingston. The room smelled fresh when we entered and the beds were very comfy with a nice veiw out of the window. LCD tv with fridge, microwave and complementary coffee were very strong points. The hotel was fully booked when we arrived. Surprisingly, there was complete quiteness. We were very satisfied with the service and staff alike.

I have trusted TripAdvisor many times when choosing hotels and resorts. So when my husband and I decided on a trip to the Kingston area with his mom who was visiting us from Oregon, I went to TripAdvisor to find a good place to stay the night. I've found other places we've stayed in to be accurately reviewed on TripAdvisor -- but not in this case. Our room was dirty - candy wrappers and garbage behind the bathroom door. The door leading from outside to our room had no security lock -- just a little knob inside the handle like you'd have on a bedroom door in your home. No bolt lock or slide chain. The curtains are old and saggy and don't close properly. The bathroom door would not close at all because the door frame was crooked. The outside is a mess, with garbage piled up in plain view. A fence might help hide their clutter and garbage. The remote for the TV did not work, and the smoke alarm battery must have been almost dead because it was beeping every 30 seconds. My husband finally took down the alarm and removed the battery so we could sleep...so we thought. There are train tracks and a railroad crossing about 50 feet from the motel. That means every time a train went by during the night, which happened 12 - 15 times (no lie), the bells would start ringing and the train would blow it's whistle. We would just about be asleep from one train when we would hear another one rumbling in the distance, and a couple minutes later the bells would ring and the whistle would blow....again. There was mold and stains all along the bottom section of the shower curtain. And as we were getting ready for bed, a large spider crawled across the wall right beside the bed. Do yourself a big favour and stay away. The room cost us $100.00 for one night. Way too much for such a terrible room. Pay more if necessary to stay somewhere you can actually sleep. The people who run the place are nice enough, but their standards of cleanliness just don't cut it.

Superb hotel. It was quite pleasing to experience more for our dollar. The queen jacuuzi suite was truly an amazing experience. Brand new room with 26" LCD tv, perfect water pressure of the shower, very comfy bed, lots of towels, and a very pleasant smell which was awesome. Free high speed wireless internet and coffee was a bonus. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay in a room equivalent to a 4star hotel for a 2star price. Great deal. We will be back again next month!
