Description: Sir John's is a cozy Scottish-Canadian Pub located in the building that was Sir John A. Macdonald's law office from 1849 to 1860. The pub takes you back in time with an affordable menu of home-cooked food inspired by Scotland but also featuring contemporary pub cuising. We make our own haggis and serve it as tasty fritters or as a topping on poutine. A good selection of imported and local beers with a healthy selection of Scotch Whiskies helps to wash everything down. In the evening the pub is a friendly meeting place where strangers and visitors are welcome. You might even see a few kilts. John A. himself has been known to stop by from time-to-time. A visit to Sir John's Public House is not just a fun experience but you will take away a bit of Canada's past when you part!

I often meet up with friends for before --dinner drinks and an appie or two. Also enjoy the fish and chips for lunch.

Nice dark interior gives a great period feel. Sat outside as it was so nice. Good selection of beers and helpful staff made some good recommendations. Had a Tory Club sandwich. Well I do usually vote Conservative! Filling and tasty with their chips. Nice place to chill and watch the local world go by. Great service too.

Just had a few pints so can't speak to the menu - the beer selection was a pleasent surprise with a number of regional microbrews. Relaxed casual atmosphere, this not too big not too small pub is perfect for a break or two throughout the day. On my second visit the barman remembered my order, always a good sign. Interesting history on display, great place to enjoy the afternoon

Great little pub with an interesting variety on their menu. Deciding what to eat was tough because there were so many options that sounded delicious. The beet salad was hands down the best I've had. There were a lot of beets, which one would expect in a beet salad with just enough walnuts and cheese that nicely complimented the salad without overpowering it. The dressing was light and refreshing, served on the side as ordered, and I didn't need much as the salad was already so flavourful. The sandwiches were great and the fries were hot and crispy. I would definitely visit again and might even be adventurous enough to try the vegan haggis...maybe. I highly recommend this little pub that is housed in Sir John A.'s original law offices. Good food, good service, and a little history to boot. I was impressed and it restored my faith in the restaurant industry in Ontario.

the waterfront in Kingston has so many pubs. Sir John's is a great place for a pint.Set on a side street it gives you a break from the heavy foot traffic on the main street
