I had been to Niagara Falls a few times before but had never given the old Downtown District a try. The owner of the Bed & Breakfast where I was staying suggested this brewhouse. It was walking distance from the B&B district and turned out to be a real gem. It had a great local feel, very different from what you get in the tourist area. It offered a selection of inhouse brews that were really good, a fun non-fancy menu with brew suggestions to suit menu items, the fish and chips were really good, and had scheduled low-key live evening music, again, nothing fancy. We had such a good time away from the tourist crowds.

The food here seems to be mostly pub style: wings, burgers, sausages, poutine etc but is very good pub grub. We had the fish and chips and it was just great. Service was a little slow at times but always friendly and helpful. For me the main attraction of this place was the beer. Several very good and different styles of beer and all at good prices - about $4.65 a pint. All except two of the beers are brewed on the premises so are as fresh as can be. The other two come from a sister brewery / restaurant on Lundy's Lane (The Syndicate Restaurant and Brewpub). Inside is a small bar area with beer lines straight from the brewery which you can see behind. Behind this is a larger indoor restaurant and seating area. Outside there is a patio area, a good place to sip a cold beer and relax on a sunny evening. Decor is very sparse, you feel like you're in a warehouse (as someone else has said) - which you are, this is a working brewery after all. Mostly frequented by locals, all the people we met were very relaxed and friendly. This place's reputation must be spreading though, we met a couple who had driven from Maryland (USA) just to sample the beer! There's often live music on as well. I definitely recommend visiting this place if you're ever in Niagara Falls.

We went for lunch today and got seated almost right away. There was only one server running the bar and helping the tables so service was a little slow but still good none the less. We started with the Poutine fries which was our first time having Poutine and it was delicious! I had the BLD (Breakfast Lunch Dinner) Burger which was AMAZING. I had it with Blue Cheese and it was the best burger I have ever had. The lettuce on the burger and for the salad was a little brown/dark around the edges which was a little of a turn off but the food made up for it. My girlfriend had the chicken sandwich which she said was also good, though she had wished the chicken was better distributed in the pita wrap. It seemed that all the chicken had just been mostly in just one spot. I had the Red Cream beer which was also delicious and the craft brew are well worth the price for a pint. Girlfriend had the wheat Vanilla which I also tried, also very good and the same price! Definitely go here if you're looking for lunch or dinner.

We had the days special wich was bison sausage in a rigatoni alfredo with a pint for $10.00. Along with being a great deal the food was very good. They have a nice relaxed atmosphere and had a stage setup for local musicians . the music was actually quite good. brews are good , but all rather tame and uneventful.

Taps offers all that we expected on the menu, and a selection of their own beers. We have been on Monday ($10 for a really good burger and a pint of beer), and on Wednesday for 22 cent wing night. Good value both times. The restaurant itself has an almost warehouse feel to it, which was fine for beers and food with a group of friends, but not exactly a cozy atmosphere. We will go back again.
