“Nice Hotel, Decent Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2012

Very nice property with great views. The walk to the falls is a little longer than expected given the straight line view, but still manageable. The rooms are decent and the staff is friendly and most helpful.

The main downside to the hotel was the ridculous $20 per night parking charge for an unattended unovered lot with open gates. I got the sense that if we had not told them we had a car we would have never been charged. Parking very near the Falls was only $10, so $20 here was way too much, and significantly dampened the good Priceline rate we got on the room.

Recently stayed 2 nights using a Living Social voucher .We paid extra for a room with a fallsview (if that's not important , you can save money by booking a room on the opposite side). Our 17th floor room included 2 queen beds, a mini-frig, and a coffee maker. The beds were comfortable, and the room was spacious enough for 2 adults. I don't know how full the hotel was, it appeared most rooms near us were occupied, but our room was nice & quiet. The staff we met were very pleasant. I thought $5 for the plastic bottles of water in the room at the mini bar was pretty steep, but we had our own water so we avoided that fee. Also, there is a fee for Wifi. We avoided that by using the computers available off the lobby.

Our voucher included the breakfast buffet, which had a great variety of hot & cold items plus omelettes made-to-order. If you like to eat a big breakfast this is worth it for you even if you have to pay for it. One negative we noticed at dinner was they didn't serve any bread or a dinner roll--at those prices it would have been nice, but maybe bread is an American custom?
Be prepared to walk if you want to see the falls up close. We walked down the hill at Murray Street & took the funicular back up afterwards.
Also, the food court at Fallsview Casino Resort has affordable options for meals, or Italian at Zappi's across Stanley Ave behind the hotel. Riding the hotel/attractions shuttle is a good way to get a feel for the area and saves parking hassles. We would probably return if we had a similar voucher deal.

Room Tip: I recommend spending the extra $$ to get a fallsview room.

We recently stayed at the Marriott Gateway on the falls in March and had a great time. We were looking for a short weekend getaway, and the Marriott sure delivered. We had previously stayed at this hotel when it was a Sheraton, and I have to say that we were much more pleased with this stay. We have switched over to Marriott Rewards in the last year after being Starwood guests for a long time, and this Marriott did not disappoint. We also wanted to extend a special thanks to Michael at the front desk who helped us out during our entire stay. His exceptional customer service was the best that we've ever encountered and far exceeded what we we've been accustomed to when we were Starwood members! Thank you Michael :). The room was amazing with soft comfortable beds, we had a beautiful suite with an amazing wrap around floor to ceiling view of the falls. There was a jacuzzi and a kitchenette in our room as well.. we did not want to leave!!! We will definitely be returning soon.

My wife and I stayed here for two days in April.
We had a room on the top floor overlooking the falls.
The room itself was modern and clean.

The hotel was undergoing renovations still, so the lobby wasn't as luxurious as the other Marriott, but who cares? It eventually will be.

The pool room isn't as fancy as the Hilton or other Marriott, and was too heated.
The gym is amazing! All new equipment, treadmills with TVs on them, tons of equipment! Did a few circuits while I was there and I fell in love with that gym.

The staff were very friendly and made our stay welcome. As for price, we payed $250CDN for the 2 nights with fallsview room and buffet breakfast each morning. We payed an extra $40 to upgrade to the top floor. The price was good for what we received, and it's a lot less expensive than other fallsview hotels.

All in all, we had a great time and will be back!

Beds were comfy and bedding very nice. Apart from the lobby and ground floor hallway I didn't see anything in the way of updates. Our room was nice, bathroom a little small but clean and tidy. We took advantage of a Wagjag coupon for $99 which included the room, 2 complimentary drinks, coupon for wine tasting for 2 at a winery, free breakfast for 2 which was regularly $19 each, $25 off a meal at Milestones and free shuttle to the casino for the day. Milestones was much more reasonably priced that the restaurant in the Hilton, the $25 took care of 60% of the bill.
For parking I suggest you park at the casino. With a free shuttle you save. In the morning when I retrieved the car it only cost $5 compared to the hotels' $20 and it was only about an 8 minute walk.

Dear Trip Advisor Member,

We are happy to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. Milestones has been a great addition to the hotel and definitely has great value. Parking costs at the casino vary based on the season and events, so please be wary of parking there when you are in town as it is not always that price. The hotel shuttle is complimentary for guests that have it included with their packages, normally there is a minimal charge. We hope that you will join us again soon when you are staying in the area.

We stayed on the weekend and while it was a pleasant stay, it is not what we are used to at a Marriott Hotel. I understand that it was previously a Sheridan Hotel and it is obvious that they spent no money on it. Marriott is in the process of revamping the lobby and mezzanine levels but they still have a long way to go. The staff was friendly and helpful and yes the views of the falls are very good but the frayed furniture and worn carpets belong down the street at the motel. We will be avoiding the Marriott Gateway until it is finished.

We stayed 2 nights in a streetview room (fallsviews were all booked up) last weekend of March. The hotel was at capacity due to hockey tournaments and a dance competition. The room was great, very clean and the beds were comfortable. My only complaints would be the lack of a fan in the bathroom (that one had me scratching my head), lack of parking and the l o n g wait for an elevator. I appreciate that the hotel was full and that Marriott is still upgrading it, so perhaps while they have hammer in hand they should seriously consider adding another bank of elevators and a level (or 2) of new parking spaces. All in all this place has potential and I would come back, but not if it's at capacity again. We didn't have time to try out the pool, restaurant or other amenities, but other guests seemed to enjoy them.
