“A retreat to a butterfly rainforest without haveing to take a plane”
Reviewed 24 March 2012

We moved close to the area about two years ago and Niagara is certainly one of our favorite places to visit. The Butterfly Conservatory always has new butterflys emerging from their cacoons so each time we visit we seem to see at least one new Butterfly we did not see the time before and that makes it more fun for the adults :) It's is nice and humid in with the butterfly's so it's especially nice when visiting durring the winter months when everything is so cold outside :)

Niagara Parks offers a season pass available from April-April and it includes many attractions in the area for about the price you would pay to visit one attraction twice. We are very thankful for the passes and have certainly put them to good use. The butterfly conservatory is one of the attractions whcih certainly helps make the pass worth the money you spend.

The area inside the butterfly conservatory is laid out with tons of Beautiful flowers, a small stream, a waterfall and butterflys often landing on your shirt, especially if you are wearing bright colors. The kids love haveing the butterflys land on them and it makes for great photos, just remember you can not touch the Butterflys.

There is one drawback, while there is wheelchair access it can ofen be hard to get around when there are lots of people visiting the attraction. Be prepared to enjoy the attraction but at a leisurely pace. It is worth it :)

We have visited the Butterfly Conservatory atleast 8 times in the last two years and plan on many more trips :)

“Not terrible, but overrated”
Reviewed 20 March 2012

Okay, first of all this place is expensive. I expect it in Niagara Falls, but usually attractions like these are worth it so it was disappointing. I was also surprised at how small it is. You can probably walk through it in 5 minutes if you don't stop often. The butterflies themselves were beautiful and it was neat to be able to get so close and even have them land on you. The con of this is that I saw MANY with damaged wings. I was saddened too that there were absolutely no warning signs about handling the butterflies gently or even watching your step since a lot of butterflies land on the walkways. Instead there were little children RUNNING full speed through the garden and adults try to catch butterflies with their hands and plant leaves. I’ve been to other conservatories before and never have I seen this lack of guidance. It was nice to try it out, but we wouldn’t go back.

“Butterflies everywhere”
Reviewed 19 March 2012

The butterflies land on you if you are brightly dressed and on a cold day it's nice and warm and humid there. They have lizards too and a garden outside in the summer.

“What a great place to visit!”
Reviewed 19 March 2012

Even without the butterflies, it would still be a really nice conservatory. But then you add in thousands of colorful butterflies everywhere - it makes it a fantastic stop. Along with the butterflies, they also had a tropical animal exhibit on at the time, with monkeys, snakes and more on display. Endless photo opportunities with the butterflies everywhere - in the plants, in the air, even landing in the guests. No wonder this place is ranked so high (#2, right after the Falls themselves)
