“Excellent value stay”
Reviewed 14 May 2012

Stayed here early May for two nights. Very spacious standard room with two queen beds and plenty of space for luggage. Bathroom was also a decent size and everything was clean and tidy. Corridors were wide and felt airy - in fact the whole hotel felt spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was okay - not a vast choice but all the essentials catered for and certainly was decent enough to give a solid start to the morning. One thing not used to was the use of disposable plates and plastic cutlery though. As mentioned in previous reviews, there was complimentary tea and coffee and cookies in the reception area which was a real boon - especially when coming back to the hotel for a break. We tried the cookies once and they were very good - chewy and moist. Location was great - 5 minute walk into Clifton Hills so close enough to the action but far enough to be away from the noise. 5 minutes down to the Rainbow Bridge and the first view of the Falls - really convenient. Handy for the regular buses which go to the bus terminal at Bridge Street if needed.
Overall, only critism was that the shower wasn't very powerful - not a great spray although water always hot. In the end though, we still thoroughly enjoyed out two nights there and would probably stay again if we ever returned and it kept up it's bargain prices.

Chosen for location but we got a lot more than that. David is a legend, just the sort of person who will make people feel welcome and get them coming back. His recommendation of Sandstone as a place to eat was spot on as was all the other help he gave us (and others). This kind of interaction with customers and attention to detail makes a stay all the more pleasant and will ensure people write reviews like this, encouraging others to come. The location was fine, the breakfast was great and the rooms were warm and very comfortable. Highly recommended!

Booked this hotel online because it was rated overall as one of the best in the Falls. It is comparable to the Hampton across the street but perhaps the rooms are more spacious. We just booked the standard two queen room which was priced well but it did not have a fridge or microwave. They do offer similar rooms with them for more money. Not a big problem the front desk guy let us into the kitchen area and we heated something up there. We only stayed one night so not a big problem. There is an $8.00 charge for parking which is reasonable and you can walk to the main drag in the Falls from there. The rooms were quiet and comfortable the staff friendly. Hot breakfast was ok, my wife used the pool and there was a cardio room with about three of four machines. Location is good, hotel is clean and quiet, price is right. I'd likely return.

This was my third time staying at this hotel. I keep coming back because of all I'm about to mention here: The location is ideal - a very short walk to Clifton Hill but just out of the way enough that it is quiet at night. Breakfast is included - there's a good selection and you can make your own waffles (in the Summer months get there early as the dinning area fills up fast - it opens at 7 am). The rooms are clean and well maintained (they have low flush toilets which is important to me - saves water). There's a pool and hot tub. And best of all the staff is very nice and helpful - couldn't ask for better! Need another reason to stay there? Free cookies at the front desk ;)

From check-in to check-out, this hotel exceeded our expectations. David at the front desk made check-in smooth and fun. He was a wealth of information for the area. Later in the evening on our first night, Alicia came on duty, and she was also extremely helpful and friendly. Even in the mornings, when Diane came on duty, she was just as cheerful and pleasant as could be. The maids were just as accommodating and pleasant. I give the hotel staff 5 Stars. I wish I had gotten the gentleman's name that attended to the breakfast room. He was also right on his game. We never had to wait for anything and he kept the hot foods full right up until closing.

My wife and I were looking for something wrong, as it all seemed too perfect. Well, we entered our room, and it was much more than we expected. Very clean, and odor free. Newer carpet and furnishings. We choose the jacuzzi king room. Everything including the jacuzzi tub and bathrooms sparkled. We literally could not find any faults. The view was nothing special, but we knew that we weren't staying in a fallsview room at 400% of the cost, so no surprise there.

We were never disturbed by noise or other guests. The hotel is in a quieter section of Niagara Falls, without all of the neon, flashing lights and mobs of tourists. Parking was very reasonable at $8 bucks a day. It may seem high, but try and park anywhere in NF's for less. Real estate is at a premium and I'm sure that fee barely covers the cost to operate and maintain the lot. Again no complaints here.

As for the rate, we got an off season rate that beat just about every other hotel. But, it offered so much more than most hotels. Even parking was cheaper, and even the high end places charge to park. If you want free parking, go lose a substantial amount of money at the casino right across the street. They'll give you free parking.

As far as the free breakfast goes, I don't know what more they can offer to please the complainers. If you want a full sit down breakfast, run across the street to IHop. For $60 bucks you can easily feed a family of four some fresh eggs and bacon. The breakfast consisted of fruit, yogurt, toast, bagels, tarts, 3 cereals, hot oatmeal, several juices, the best hotel coffee ever (BOLD). On top of all that they have make your own waffles, and 2 or 3 additional hot items, such as eggs, home fries, french toast, and sausage patties. It varies daily on the 2 or 3 hot items. With that said, I was more than thrilled to save myself a ton of money daily just on breakfast alone.

I know the majority of you could care less about this next observation, but here goes anyway. As a smoker, it is getting harder and harder to find a smoke friendly area. This hotel has a nice sitting area outside far enough to the left of the main lobby so as not to bother all but the whiniest of non smokers. Plenty of room for at least a half a dozen people to sit, with small tables and a smokers outpost. I was impressed that they cared enough about us smokers to accommodate us in this way.

We will stay here again. After spending time in NF, I couldn't imagine having to be any closer to the action. It was a very relaxing stress free vacation. Again, Kudos to the staff, and a special thanks to David.

Additionally, if you are bringing children along with you and are staying for any length of time, I'd suggest you either stay away from the attractions, or be prepared to spend a TON of money. The place is literally jam packed full of places designed to take your money, with special emphasis on catering to the children. And that's fine if that's what your vacation is all about. There is nothing to do for free that would hold a child's attention very long.

Change your money at the casino and spend Canadian dollars only. We were charged 25% at Shoppers Drug Mart right down the road from the hotel. Literally, two 2 liter bottles of coke, 2 medium sized bags of chips, and one small generic brand of dip. I gave them an American 20 for a $14 bill, and they took another 5 and change for a total of $19.23 for the same thing I could have gotten on the American side for about 10 bucks in a grocery store. No big deal I suppose, but it can add up really fast over the course of your stay.

Room Tip: From what I've heard, don't get a room in front of the elevators. Just hearsay though, as we...
