In 2010, my husband and I saw Harvey. It was magnificent! Amazing cast and set. This year, my husband, mother-in-law and I saw My Fair Lady. Amazing cast, funny, and excellent music!

“Candida provides food for thought with a laugh”

Shaw is a thought provoking playwright and this early play is no exception. Who is the master of your house and how does he/she obtain that position? An excellent play, slightly overacted.

“An Annual Treat”
Reviewed 18 October 2011

My friends and I have been going to the Shaw Festival once or twice every year for the past 20 years and we always enjoy our visit. Every season features one or two plays from George Bernard Shaw and other plays that were written around or about the era of Shaw’s lifetime (1856 - 1950). The Festival has four venues: The Festival Theatre, The Court House Theatre, the Royal George Theatre and the Studio Theatre. Our favourites are The Festival Theatre, which has a nice garden where you sit and sip drinks during intermission and The Royal George, a former vaudville house with a beautiful Edwardian interior. Tickets are moderately priced, but are 30 percent cheaper if go during the previews (before the play officially opens). Listening devices are available for guests who are hearing impaired, and can be booked in advance. As with any theatre festival, the plays can be hit or miss, but it's still fun to go and spend the day in Niagara-On-The-Lake, one of the most beautiful and historic places in Ontario.

“50 Years of Excellent Theatre”
Reviewed 15 October 2011

My wife and I have been going to Niagara-on-the-Lake and The Shaw Festival Theatre for over 40 years (not counting years off for raising kids). The Shaw and NOTL are a wonderful oasis and of unique shops, restaurants with a large variety of wineries, B&Bs, hotels and excellent theatre in four locations......all within a mile radius

In recent years, without children in hand, we have had the opportunity to chat with other visitors from various parts of the US, Canada and Europe and learn of their experiences and recommendations.

A couple of things that we recently discovered include the variety of ticket price options that Shaw offers.....check out "Ways to Save" on the Shaw website. They offer discounts on preview days, tickets in the months of June and October, Sunday evening and senior matinees, families, students, adults under 30 and also when you purchase a season pass.

If you enjoy excellent theatre productions and are looking for a wonderful ambience, I would highly recommend NOTL and The Shaw Festival Theatre. You won't be disappointed.
