“Well restored historic home steps away from water & downtown.”
Reviewed August 1, 2011 for a stay in July 2011

My wife and I stayed in this lovely home for a week in July, 2011. Our two teenagers and a couple of friends visited on a weekend and there was plenty of room for all since there are four bedrooms upstairs (3 doubles and one with two single beds). The three bathrooms accomodated everyone. The kitchen has all the utensils that you need to cook a dinner for 6 (which we did!), including a barbecue. We loved the grounds - there are 3-4 little areas where you can sit from a secluded backyard with large table and seating areas, to a private table off the kitchen to a few rattan chairs on the front porch where you can watch the horse-drawn buggies go by. We used all of them, depending on the location of the sun and privacy that we wanted. The grounds are beautifully kept with lots of flowers and trees. The property has its own parking which is a plus since all the parking is metered in the area. We stayed during a heat wave and can report that the air conditioning was excellent! If you know Niagara-on-the-Lake, you will find that the location is ideal between Queen Street and the river, steps away from the water (and golf course - you can carry your clubs there!) and steps away from the downtown shops and the Shaw theatres. For being so close to downtown, we found that the area is incredibly quiet, both during the day and in the evening, perhaps due to the bylaw that discourages noise after 10 p.m. We will definitely be back!

“Wonderful”
Reviewed May 25, 2011 for a stay in May 2011

I began researching places to stay in Niagara on the Lake in January. There were so many beautiful vacation homes who could decide. Well When I came upon this beautiful home it caught my eye right away. From the wonderful grounds to the beautiful colours and feel of this home. It had that Niagara on the Lake experience I was looking for.

When I first e-mailed Don I received a response right away. When speaking with him you could hear in his voice how passionate and proud he was of his home. That made my decision right away to book this vacation home.

Eight of us stayed at the Marrakech Mansion on the May long weekend as a girls weekend for a friend of ours getting married. We were all in awe of this home especially the grounds from the most beautiful Magnolia tree I have ever seen to the english garden area where we ate supper.

The inside of this home has a Morrocan feel from the beautiful vibrant colours on the walls to the amazing light fixtures. This home is perfect for a family vacation to a girls getaway. I will guarantee you will not be disappointed in booking this home. It is so close to downtown, that you will park your car and not get in it again until you sadly leave this home.

We thank Don and his wife for allowing us to rent this home for memories that will never be forgotten.

Donna MacLeod

“picturesque getaway for a wine country winter weekend”
Reviewed February 22, 2011 for a stay in February 2011

We stayed at the Marrakech Mansion for a long weekend getaway with family. We have visited the area for the past five years, staying at different hotels and inns and this was the first time we decided to do a vacation rental by owner. We definitely felt it was one of the best places we have stayed. Location is ideal -- a short walk to the town and shops or the park. The colors and decor of the space are welcoming and the layout of the home was ideal for socializing but also allowed privacy for the individual couples. Don (the owner) has many thoughtful amenities -- board games, a well-stocked library, washing detergent/fabric softener for the laundry, and a guest book of nearby recommended restaurants and sites. His flexibility on check-in was very appreciated as it was hard to judge how long the trip from NY would take. We had a few cold days and as the house is old,it can be chilly at times. Still, a few warm blankets and a few glasses of wine often did the trick! It wouldnt keep us away. We hope to be able to stay at Marrakech again next year. It made an already special place like Niagara on the Lake even more wonderful!
