Owner description: Pillitteri Estates Winery proudly continues a family tradition of viticulture and winemaking excellence. For Gary Pillitteri, the opening of Pillitteri Estates Winery in June of 1993 was the culmination of a lifetime dream. Today the Pillitteri family continues his dream and tradition of quality, having received over 600 wine awards from around the world. The family’s winemaking philosophy is quite simple: “To produce the finest wines possible from the highest quality Niagara Peninsula grapes.” The strategy, however, is much more complex. Each vineyard and wine is treated individually since each has its own ‘personality’ that must be expressed. “Our goal is to produce consistent, quality wine for our consumers: rich, full-bodied reds; fragrant and lively whites; and luscious Icewines, all in a variety of styles to suit every palate.”

“Very Good Wines - BUT!”
Reviewed 11 December 2011

The wines here were very good, but i am rating the winery and tasting experience. The winery is more like a general store, than a winery. It seems to be a stop for masses of tourist being unloaded from buses. Pillitteri lacks a winery atmosphere, service, and scenery.

“Worst experience we had in the US!”
Reviewed 10 October 2011

We visited with a group of people after our tour in Niagara Falls. Obviously the tour company and the winery have an agreement of some kind.

We have had the worst, rudest, appaling and embarrasing experience in our holiday in the US.

The girls that work there are the kind of spoiled teenagers that make you want to scream!!!

After being patronised about wine by 2 kids (they called it wine tasting), we had to endure a long and embarrasing discussion of whether they would sell us an open bottle of wine. Their argument was that our tour guide didnt allow it so that it doesnt spill in the bus. They asked him, he said ok and then had a long and embarrasing discussion of them patronising us that the wine would get warm! We know girls and we dont care!!! We finally said ok we dont want the wine!

At the end and to top it all of (after all of the above and more I cant begin to describe) they tried to sell us the 2 dollars snacks we took at the beginning to enjoy with the wine we were trying to buy from them for 15 minutes and they were refusing to sell!!

Ridiculous service!

When I enjoy my wine I dont want to be patronised by 2 spoiled teenage girls...

“Vine to Wine Experience!!”
Reviewed 9 July 2011

WOW!
What a great experience. Visited this winery on our honeymoon on a wine tour with Embassy Suites hotel! The wine was amazing, we went on a tour and did a tasting.
My favourite and most recommended wine is the Cabernet Sauvignon Icewine, you have to pay a small $4.00 fee to try, but very much worth it!Our tour guide Kendel was lovely, and on our way out of the shop we stopped in the fruit market and again received excellent customer service, and purchased some great jams and jellies! Lisa assisted us and suggested one of the jams, which turned out to be great! We learnt so much on our tour, and now I officially know how to taste wines.

What a great experience overall, the staff is very accomodating, wines are great, and the property and barrel cellar are a sight to see!!

Pillitteri is a stop every honeymooner should add to their list.

“Nice Beginning”
Reviewed 13 May 2011

My husband and I booked a tour with the Grape Escape and this was our first stop. I love starting out with a tour and getting the history behind the business. We chose a Thursday, so not a lot of crowds, in fact we were the only ones on the tour. We were able to see where they make the wine and store it in the cellar. In the cellar, we saw the longest one-piece concrete table ever made and the 23 chairs that go around it. Very impressive. Emma was a great tour guide and wine tasting counsel. We bought 2 bottles from this location and can't wait to pop cork's at home.
