Good wines, and fairly good value for those bottles you take home. But we found the staff were unfriendly (to a person) and the tasting experience to be a bit of a free for all, rather than a guided exercise to help you learn and enjoy the what the winery has to offer. Progress through the wines in any semblance of order? Nope. You tell me what you want next, I'll pour it, and only if you ask outright questions will I tell you about the wine you're tasting. Or the winery. Or the vineyard(s).
Maybe Pillitteri gets too many big bus tours and have lost sight of the people who are genuinely there to learn and be exposed to their wines. Or perhaps our encounter was on a night when the staff were in a bad mood. Who knows. No amount of niceties, politeness, or overt interest could spark the tasting staff into being more engaged, so we bought our bottles and fled.
Oftentimes in winery visits it's as much about that person you meet at the counter as it is the wines you're trying, and I can honestly say that this visit to Pillitteri left me and my tasting companions raising our eyebrows. We exited that evening with the distinct impression that we are better to buy Pillitteri wines at the LCBO -- and to go do tastings at any number of other Niagara vineyards.
Thank you for your straight forward and honest feedback. I would first like to sincerely apologize for the experience you had while visiting our winery. We are however happy to hear that you enjoyed the wines. This is not the level of service we strive to achieve nor is it acceptable to neglect the interest of our customers, regardless of our traffic volume. To better remedy the situation which unfortunately occurred please call me at 905-468-3147 x235 We would like the opportunity to serve you properly.
Sincerely,
Nikki VanBolden

This is an obligatory stop on any bus tour to Niagara Falls. The wine is excellent but be prepared for long lines. I loved the unique bottles and how knowledgeable the staff was. This would be a great place to visit "off tour" season to not be rushed.
Pilliteri is always a good place to stop. They usually have a good selection at reasonable prices. The icewines are a great value and they always have good whit wines as well.
We experienced some confusion when our visitors from the UK purchased some of the wine they had tasted but Zach and the customer service team handled the confusion very professionally and resolved the situation superbly. Nothing but praise for the customer service people we dealt with. Zach gave us all an excellent explanation of all the wines being offered and made the whole experience one our visitors will always remember. We'll be back with more visitors!
History and Mission statement for this winery:
Since arriving in Niagara on the Lake, Canada in 1948, the Pillitteri family has been committed to creating a legacy for generations to follow. Now, over six decades later, Pillitteri Estates Winery proudly continues a family tradition of viticulture and wine making excellence. With three generations actively involved with our winery’s operations, we can truly say that each bottle of wine we make is a product of our family’s passion. We are proud to be able to share the fruits of our labour with wine enthusiasts around the world, and consider each person that enjoys a glass of Pillitteri wine to be a part of our family.
This winery is not the glitzy estates that the other ones we visited were. The awards room was very impressive however. This is a winery that is on the bus tours.
