Nice stay overall

Review of Moffat Inn
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Feb 15, 2020
Our group of two couples stayed at the Moffatt Inn for a one night stay chosen on its rate and location in NOTL as it is on the main street within walking distance of the core.

Parking was behind the hotel and there appeared to be plenty of spaces during a busier time.

Check in was fantastic with a host who explained the Inn's features in detail.

Our fireplace room was clean and although older, everything was in working order with nothing of concern.

The pub that is still advertised on the Vintage Hotel website is not open anymore but instead replaced with a sushi restaurant.

The morning was a bit disappointing as the lounge coffee was not hot. When I asked the attendant whether it was fresh or not, he replied yes so I explained the situation. He looked at it and realized the warming plate appeared to be off but we opted for the in room Keurig coffee instead.

At check out, the printer wasn't functional for my receipt but the attendant showed me the final charge on the computer.

Despite those minor inconveniences, we would consider staying here again.

Good location in Niagara On The Lake. Nice rooms. Old school. Restaurant & Pub in the basement. Convenient to the stores in the village and all of the Theatres. The front desk has always provided us with wonderful service. Very, very clean. Price is reasonable for the village.

We stayed at the Moffat Inn for a night, and everything was great! The staff was very friendly, and offered great advice on the area. The room was very cozy, and a great value for the price! The hotel is on the main road of Niagara-on-the-Lake, so everything is walk able from the hotel. The next time we are in the area, we will definitely stay here again and explore the other services that they offer

This property should not be part of the
Vintage brand equal to a Quality Inn
A tired property bed needs to be replaced
Bathroom no heat put towels on floor to
Walk on. Rates are to much for what you
Will receive.
Keep looking 🥴

My wife and I stayed here on a Saturday night following a wedding in Buffalo. The bed-and-breakfast package included a full breakfast for two next door at the Noble Restaurant at the Prince of Wales Hotel. You could also use the pool at the Prince of Wales, should you felt like it.

The room we stayed in at the Moffat Inn was ok. It was clean, but it also did not have a fireplace like the room I requested. Furthermore, nobody bothered to move the clock back an hour after Daylight Savings Time, which happened like a week ago. When I called the Front Desk to tell them that I paid for a room with a fireplace, I somehow was directed to the Prince of Wales front desk. The night manager was very apologetic and took $50 off the room rate. I thought that was fair and I appreciated his help!

The breakfast the next morning at the Noble was excellent! The full breakfast for each person comes with a main course (we both had eggs benedict with home fries), coffee/tea, juice, and croissants. I actually feel like the Moffat should really highlight how much food you get with the bed and breakfast because it really is a great deal!

But alas, the Moffat always seemed to find a way to illustrate that it is nowhere as luxurious or spectacular as the other Vintage Hotel properties. After our meal, we went back to the Moffat and wanted to call over to the Queens' Landing to see if we could check in early for our next night. Even though their website says you can make free local calls, this indeed was not the case. It didn't matter if you dialed 9 or the actual phone number with area code, it would not dial out. Finally, I dialed the toll-free reservation number and finally got through. Well, lo and behold, I was charged $1.13 for a long distance call! How does that even make sense? When I spoke to the person at the front desk, his response was that if I came to the front desk, he could have made the call for free. I shouldn't have to leave my room, go outside, walk to the front desk to make a phone call when your room phones should work in the first place! I also shouldn't have to inquire to get my money back, which did not happen. You should do the right thing, especially when you know it's wrong.

If you want the luxury treatment all the way, stay at the Prince of Wales. Or even the Queens' Landing!

You can’t beat the location of this inn. We parked our car and walked to every meal and shopping. Very close to the fort and the lake. John at the desk was friendly and helpful with all of our questions. Bathroom was recently updated and adequate. Rooms are ‘historic’ and adequate, too. No complaints since we weren’t there much. Thankful for free WiFi. Our room had a door to a small deck which we would have enjoyed more in the summer. Coffee available in lobby every morning, too. We will stay here again.
