“Winter Overnight Stay at Harbour House”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 January 2012

We stayed overnight at the Harbour House hotel Dec 28/29 as part of the Best Dining package. It was our first stay in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

From start to finish, the service, staff, accommodations, everything was perfect to the smallest detail. Upon arrival, my partner and I were by courteous and knowledgeable staff. A personalized note with cookies was in the room waiting for us. The mood was set with jazz music playing on the radio as we entered the room. We booked the Superior room and requested the double jacuzzi tub. The room included a gas fireplace. Dinner was at Charles Inn; the shuttle ride over and back, the driver was fantastic and in a great mood. Breakfast at the Conservatory area, great service from the staff, amzaing layout of fresh fruits, pastries, homemade jams, freshly brewered coffees. Parking was plentiful at the Harbour House hotel.

This trip was wonderful. I'm giving it a 10, and I can't wait to go back in the summer.

We are avid Ontario Finest Inn travellers and decided to try a new one for a mini get away after the Christmas holidays. The Harbour House Hotel Inn was a wonderful experience as it is a quaint hotel-inn near the Niagara River, harbour and the historical town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. The hotel staff welcomed us with grace and friendliness. I was impressed that we were escorted to our room after we registered. An extremely accommodating hotel staff as they were willing to assist with all our queries. The room was very clean, inviting with a fireplace and it provided us with a restful break. We had a nice view of the harbour. We enjoyed the wine and cheese gathering they offered and it allowed us to banter with other guests. We had the breakfast/dinner package which did not disappoint. Prior to our dinner reservations at the Charles Inn, we took a brisk winter walk through the historical Niagara-on-the Lake downtown which invigorated us. We dined at the Charles Inn. Bruce was our shuttle bus driver who was extremely polite, friendly and knowledgeable about the local history of Niagara-on-the-Lake and the Charles Inn. Dinner at the Charles Inn was very good and the 3 course meal left us quite full and quite satisfied ... more than satisfied! The breakfast was provided in their breakfast room which I found inviting and welcoming. I loved the decor. The breakfast fare was served continental style. The breakfast selections very good and did satisfy our palette. Service was attentive but relaxed which you would like to experience rather than feeling rushed. All in all, the Harbour Hotel Inn was a pleasant experience and we will return for our next get-away! It is a great hotel-inn to share with your spouse, girl-friends and family. A nice way to end of the two week Christmas holiday! Back to work on Monday!

Room Tip: Based on our room ... I believe all the rooms will be a 'good' room. Check their website and...

This was our first stay in Niagara on the Lake. We have been there many times, but usually stay in Niagara Falls and travel between (as we do our yearly wine tours). We stayed 2 nights at Harbour House and it was by far the nicest facility we have every stayed in! We originally had booked a room, but due to some heating issues (too much heat), we were moved and upgraded to a suite. We were constantly impressed by the efficient and friendly staff. At check in we were escorted to our room and given a personal tour of HH and its facilities; the personal touch is something HH does well! Our original room was beautifully furnished with a fireplace and a grand bathroom with a jacuzzi and shower; our suite consisted of a large livingroom with a huge flat screen TV and a fireplace, a cozy bedroom with another TV and a huge bathroom (which also had a TV) with a glass enclosed shower and a 2 person Jacuzzi. The Harbour House goes that extra mile to add special touches such as beautiful glassware (to enjoy your local wines with), bathrobes, high quality toiletries including bubble bath! The towels, sheets and bath robes are all luxurious! Each evening HH offers a complimentary wine and cheese reception in their quaint and cozy library/lobby and every morning serve a grand breakfast. We had made dinner reservations for Zee's Grill the first night and the Charles Inn the second night; both of these establishments were within walking distance, however, the staff at Harbour House provide complimentary shuttle service! Amazing! We travel frequently both in and out of the country and I must say that our weekend at Harbour House was one of our favouites! The service and the hotel were extraordinary! Would love to return soon!

We booked our spa treatments at the Shaw Spa for the afternoon of check-in, heavenly massage & reflexology. Then we went to check-in, had no problem parking. We walked through the door and took a breath. What a cozy entrance filled with guests trying complimentary wine & cheeses. We were checked in by Bruce, a wonderful man! When we got to our room we were so relaxed. The view of the river & marina - snow falling outside, it was magical. We turned on the fireplace and got ready for dinner. After each having a MAAX shower we were so relaxed. We went to Zee's Grill at the Shaw Club. What a fantastic meal. The best lamb I have ever had, and the Caesar Salad was terrific. Our desserts we delicious as well. The Harbour House shuttle took us there and back, so we could enjoy a few drinks. We borrowed their Scrabble board, which was missing a few tiles, but had a relaxing evening spending time together! In the morning we thoroughly enjoyed the European Buffet Breakfast! Lots to eat and the Croissants filled with preserves were my favourite. Thanks to all at the Harbour House!

Room Tip: Book a water view!

Very luxurious accommodations and great service at a truly pet friendly hotel!
We traveled as a couple, with our dog, from Cleveland, Ohio to Shallow Lake Ontario (a couple hours north of Toronto) and stopped here for the night to break up the trip. We booked directly with the Harbour House after finding the hotel through a Pet Friendly Hotels website (www.petfriendly.ca). Upon arriving, Bruce in reception warmly greeted our dog Max by name. The check in process was painless: merely signing the form and receiving the keys to the room. The room was great - spacious with a fireplace, nice bathroom, luxurious bedding for both us and the dog. Dishes and treats for the Max.
After we got settled, we went back to reception and asked for a dinner recommendation. Bruce showed us the “menu book” with menus from many local restaurants. We decided on the Irish Harp and asked about dog sitting. Bruce and Danielle watched Max in the reception area while we had an enjoyable, relaxed dinner at the Irish Harp.
The breakfast the next morning was nice but not great. (That is our own opinion as we both have limited diets). However, the ordinariness of the fare was more than offset by the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff, helping to prepare trays to take back to the room, providing a pot of coffee, opening doors to ease our passage, and doing everything with genuine smiles.
Overall the Harbour House exceeded our expectations both in terms of the accommodations themselves and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Some places advertise “pet friendly” but really mean that they will grudgingly accept pets. Harbour House is genuinely pet friendly, and people friendly to boot!

Loved this hotel bikes available and they were very helpful. Niagara on the lake is a great place to visit, we went last October and the flowers were gorgeous. I will definitely re-visit Niagara on the lake. The town was beautifully planned with flowers everywhere and shops, pubs with great local beer, wineries and a bakery. All close enough to bike or walk to, great weather with the leaves turning that time of year.
