“This is the Best Restaurant in Durham Region”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 September 2011

I've been going to this restaurant literally for almost 20 years. The service and food are the best anywhere - there are lots of different food items and they will prepare things the way you want. They make the best Strawberry Daiquiris on the planet. Mostly, the service is incredible - the people really care that their guests are happy. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

“Great Buffet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 September 2011

Had a Post-wedding brunch on Sunday and was excellent for the money. Crepes or bacon & eggs, toast, french toast, potatoes, pemeal bacon, or sausage. All for $16.95. Now the bride new the owner through friends/family connections which of course helps and they did close part of the restaurant for us. The food was delicious and the decaf was great. Service was excellent.

“Very good, nothing more, nothing less”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2011

Tried an old favourite for our Anniversary dinner. Had not been in couple years and was not disappointed. The waitress raved about the Black Bean Soup so I tried it, but found it lacking. Not hot and very bland.
Both my wife and I had pasta dishes and found them to be excellent. I had the Lobster and Salmon in Alfredo sauce and it was meaty and very tasty.
Service was very good but we were about the only people in the place, which for a Sunday evening is a little worrisome. I would go back but frankly will not make a special point to do so.

“No surprises here always a good experience.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2011

We have dined here several times. The experience has always been positive. As the name of the restaurant suggests they have a seafood menu. I am sure they have other dishes for the non seafood people but I can't say for sure, I always order seafood.
The atmosphere is good, the staff are good the food is prepared well; all in all no complaints.
One small issue is the upstairs level which should be made into a special area to dine, I ate up there once and felt cut off and that it was a second class seat in a great eating establishment. They could do something here to make it a more premium eating area.
I would phone ahead as they always seem to be busy, that in itself tells you that they are doing something right!

“Mostly superb food, but service needs some work.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2011

We arrived a bit early for our reservation but were seated very promptly. The server came around in good time to take our wine order, and deliver it. When the wine was brought she emptied almost the entire half litre into the large glasses at the outset -- a little gauche. Fresh bread rolls were served hot and were delicious. Caesar salad was rather bland, although the fried cheese crisp was a delightful touch. Croutons and bacon were both very salty indeed. The salad was rather small for the $10 price charged. It was also unfortunate that I was not given a clean fork for my main course -- given the high prices of the menu, that would be my minimum expectation.

Main courses were outstanding -- seafood and house-smoked chicken came on fettucine rather than on linguini as stated in the menu, but everything was cooked just right, the pasta al dente, and the cream pesto sauce was superb. Being sprinkled with powdered parmesan cheese spoiled the impression a little. A generous filet of arctic char came on a first-rate risotto with green and white asparagus in it, and was excellent.

After dinner I ordered a cup of decaf coffee, and had to wait for a fresh pot. This i did not mind so much, it's common, but I could plainly see the coffeemaker and it the pot sat full on the coffeemaker for close to 10 minutes after brewing before the server remembered and finally brought a cup to the table.

The food here was outstanding at best, but in a restaurant with these prices the service really needs to come up to a similar level.
